I’m grateful that we’re both always willing to change our minds. That I both like you AND love more now than I did when we got married. That we both find the value in mistakes, and if there is none we chalk it up to s**t luck and move on. That we can talk through and about anything. And that we (hopefully) have decades of fun and crazy left together.

4 Years- I can't even believe it!

At first, it feels too long- like we got married yesterday.

Then, when we start talking through everything that's happened since our wedding day, it feels impossibly short.

Even just these photos- from our wedding day, to that canoeing photo from our first anniversary in Maine, to our Babymoon over our second anniversary, to that flight home from a Celtics game in San Francisco with Dean on our third, to today.

It's just so wild.

Every photo reminds me of a million other things from each year that aren't even represented in the photos.

Lots of wins and lots of loss. All beautiful.

We spent last night reflecting. Reiterating our goal as individuals, as a family, and as a couple. It's this:

To have disproportionately more good days than bad.

And that requires focus and intention. Commitment to use our time and money towards consistent pursuit of that outcome. To remind each other that bad is part of it. Unfair bad. Ugly bad. That the bad, and even the tendency to slip into daily monotony are really a requirement to make the great actually feel that way.

All we can do is take consistent, prioritized, action as we can. Relationship, Dean, Family, Finances, Our health (which is kind of intertwined with all of the above). With a willingness to always reevaluate and change our minds and approach as things stop working or change.

And let everything else kind of fall by the wayside.

My point is, I'm grateful for the last 4 years and the lessons they've brought. I'm grateful for Bobby, and our relationship, and that we get the privilege of raising a family and doing life and business together.

It's all taken intention and work from both of us and it's been well worth all of it.

Day 1 of the next 4 starts tomorrow, and I can't wait to see what the next chapter brings.

There will always be doom and gloom in the media- but when you understand the stock market and how businesses behave it becomes much easier to invest anyway.

Nobody is building wealth in a savings account, money market or CD- but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try your best to get a competitive interest rate on that cash.

CDs and savings bonds just aren’t competitive right now.

Maybe that will change. Until it does, I’ll be keeping my liquid cash elsewhere

Hard to believe we've been living in Paris for almost a month now- one month down, one to go!

When people find out we're here for more than a week or so, the question is always why.

Work? Family? Friends?

It's the same line of questioning we regularly get asked about our move to Southern California. The answer is always the same: because we wanted to.

That's it.

The more accurate explanation is because it's part of the active pursuit of living our ideal lives

So here's your reminder that you can do things just because you want to. Because you think they'll make you happy. Because you think it will be fun. Because you think it will make great memories.

No other justification needed.

Reminder: a little bruised ego never hurt nobody

In fact, uninsured depositors have been paid out in full in every bank failure going back decades (with the lone exception of IndyMac in 2008).

That's not to say you shouldn't care about being insured if your cash accounts total more than the FDIC coverage limits at one bank but I think it's important to have full information and act accordingly

And of course, if you’re not a business or individual with more than $250k in cash accounts in your name or business name alone at one bank- (or individual bank stocks in your portfolio) any worry over additional bank failures is a complete waste of your time and energy.

If you own stock in one bank, that investment can go to zero, but if you owned a small piece of every bank, it's impossible for every single bank to fail and for you to lose your money.

Even if your account with all the different bank stocks is at the failed bank.

This holds true for investing in any company and sector- diversification (owning a little bit of a lot of different companies - like thousands and thousands of companies) makes investing inherently less risky and where you keep those investments doesn’t matter from a risk perspective
