Holywood Youth FC

The 2015s were in action at the Bangor FC tournament yesterday.

The Youth topped their group with 3 wins out of 3 matches but got beat by a quality linfield team in the semis.

The 2015 Colts got to the final of the shield and were very unlucky to lose on penalties.

A disappointing end to a great day but some great football on show and the coaches were very proud of how all the guys performed 👏👏👏

Great morning of football at the Clonduff Tournament up at Avoneil earlier today!

After topping our group we progressed to the semi final where we narrowly lost out on a place in the Final after suffering the heartache of a penalty shootout loss!

Well done to all the kids, they were all fantastic and big thanks to all the guys from Clonduff FC for hosting! 👏

Both the 2015 HFC Youth and our 2015 '2014s' team took part in a great Rosario tournament on Sunday. It was tough going against some quality teams but we had a great day of football in glorious weather 🌞

A special mention has to go to the Youth team who came 2nd in their group with wins over a couple of teams 5 leagues above them in SBYL only to get beat in the play off final by Oliver Plunkett.

All the coaches were super-impressed by all the guys' effort and every player deserves a massive well done 👏👏👏💚🖤❤️

Well done to both 2014 teams who took part in the prestigious Rosario Festival of soccer this afternoon at Ulidia!

A number of the kids also played this morning in the NDSSG programme. Few tired boys tonight!!

In the 2015s this weekend...

The 2015 Youth had a tough friendly v Bloomfied (Div 3 SBYL team) on Friday night. Unfortunately, after 60 minutes (yes 60!) of football, and despite a lot of hard work, we ended on up on the wrong side of a 4-3 scoreline.

After 10 minutes, we were 3-0 down, and it looked as if there was a long night ahead but the score stayed at that until halftime. 2nd half was a different story with goals from Sam McC and James D. Jacob was great in nets and luck was on our side as Bloomfield struggled to get more goals.

It was a really tough fixture to put into the diary but to put it into context, they tanked us 7-0 only a few months ago so well done guys 👏👏👏

The 2015 '2014' team were up against A physical Comber Rec team this morn. Goals from Fletcher and Elwood won us the match.
A great performance all round today with some great linking play and nice movements. Special mention goes to Robin for a few great saves, including a double save and a very brave! MoTM goes to Fletcher for his strong challenges and driving the ball forward. And especially as this was a fresh test against bigger older boys. Well done Fletcher 💪

The 2015 Holywood team came away in 2nd place in their very wet match v Bangor FC. A few soft goals through preventable errors and giving the opposition too much time we're our downfall ☹️ but we improved massively in the final third, getting back to cover, driving forward and passing the ball well 👏 We were unlucky not to score after a series of corners and sustained pressure but the goal never came.

MoTM gets shared with Jacob and Jude who both covered every blade of 3G available. Well done all 💚🖤❤️

The 2015 Colts also came out 2nd best today against a physically more dominant Greenwell. Despite the loss, there were notable performances from several Holywood players.

Abel gave 100% in midfield, Bobby managed to find the back of the net, providing a glimmer of hope, Caelan and Hudson thwarted numerous attacks and Ronny and Shea demonstrated incredible stamina. GK Conor emerged as a hero, making several outstanding saves to keep Holywood in the game despite the relentless pressure from the opposing team. Alexander's relentless effort on the wing didn't go unnoticed too 👍

We go again next week!!!!

Our SBYL team were over at Londonderry Park this evening as we played a competitive friendly against Glentoran. In what was a great game, the honours were shared!

For the Youth, James M has hit the ground running since breaking into the squad, working relentlessly up and down the right wing 👏

For the 2015 '2014s' team, it's Louis. He's been consistently great in training and defo shown what he's capable of last Sat 💪

For the 2015 Colts, Shea has been improving week after week both in training and matches and is great team player 👍

The 2015s '2014' side narrowly lost against a a very good, fast and physical Castle side on Saturday but a great effort by the team and Louis was MoTM for his efforts to win the ball and good passing plays. 👍💚🖤❤️

In the 2015s Holywood game on Saturday we came away with the spoils 💚🖤❤️

Goals from MoTM Fletcher, Hugh, Hunter, Jude and a free kick from Etienne.

Special mention to Jacob who never stopped running despite being under the weather, Alfie for holding position and Charlie who although didn’t even have to make a save, was very comfortable with pass-backs and his distribution.

Tougher tests await but so pleased with the commitment on display. Well done boys 👏👏👏⚽️⚽️⚽

In Saturday's 2015 Colts game we kept up the winning ways 💪 from the word go the guys were full of energy, kept their positions and put together some good passing moves. It’s been coming for a while and we knew we would get this sort of performance from them soon! Shea was ever present and has really grown into the team, won the ball well and had a barnstorming run down the wing, a real help to his team mates. Hamish the same, contributions to the team and his role have really grown. Caelen and Hudson, defensive rocks! Ronny, Bobby, Antoni, Peter and Elias attacked brilliantly down the wings/upfront and just produced some exciting football! High 5s ✋ to Peter, Antoni, Elias, Ronny and hattrick hero to Bobby all on the score sheet! Finally special mention to Conor who was outstanding in nets today👏 Well done boys! Keep that energy up! Matches reports from 2015 games on Saturday 👇

The 2015 Youth team lost 1-0 in our final match of the SBYL season against Bangor YM. We just couldn’t get on the scoresheet and the YM keeper should have been a lot busier than he was. At the other end of the pitch, a speculative effort from a midfielder was unfortunately enough to win the game. All in all, a match to forget from a Holywood perspective and a shame to end on a low. That said, this first season in SBYL has been great fun and a steep but enjoyable learning curve. Looking forward to next season already 💚🖤❤️

The 2015's '14' team shared the spoils with Castle on Sat and in summary, we played ok with lots of positives but also plenty to work on as we prepare for the next step up to the SBYL next season. We had a couple of contenders for MoTM. However, the award goes to Jack for doing all the right things throughout the match. Well done Jack! 👏

The 2015 Holywood team were on the receiving end of a Ballywalter drubbing ☹️ on Saturday and it was only in the last third that we started to play. On another day efforts from Fletcher and Joshua would have gone in and we’d have got a few goals. Chin up lads, wasn’t for lack of effort 👏

In Saturday's 2015 Colts match against a very good Bangor YM team we played a positive game but unfortunately didn’t convert a lot of our chances. They raced into an early lead in the first third but we came back well and showed that energy from last week late on again. Captain Shea led from the front with some good passing and pressing from him and Hamish. Abel and Caelen had a solid shift in defence, Ronny, Peter and Conor shared sticks and did well with some good runs from Conor, Bobby and Ronny today up front. Peter, Bobby and Elias combined well together and never gave up fighting and creating chance for us. Peter got a goal and Elias a hat trick but just not quite enough on the tally to get the win Well done all 💪⚽️⚽️⚽️

The sun was shining and the music blasting at the all girls North Down & Ards Small Sided Games Programme event today at Aurora. It was great to see approx 20 girls teams across a range of age groups participating. We had a very enjoyable game against Greenwell Star Youth FC . Thanks to the organisers and Greenwell. Well done to all the girls playing today ⚽💚🖤❤️⚽️

For the Holywood team, it's Jude 👏 he's got more energy than the Duracell bunny and has been brilliant both in nets and outfield ⚽

For the Colts, it's Caelan 👏 who always turns up with a great attitude and gives 100% on match days 👍

Our SBYL played their last league game of the season this evening under the lights at Blythefield. Unfortunately we narrowly lost by the one goal, but the kids were fantastic and were very unlucky to not get something from the game!

Our SBYL team travelled over to Londonderry Park this afternoon to play a 9 a side friendly against Ards Rangers, in what was a great workout for the team. Many thanks to Ards Rangers for hosting us!

In the 10am 2015 Holywood match v Ards Ac Girls this morning we continued our unbeaten run.

It was a team effort with great togetherness on show 👏👏👏

MOTM was very hard given the commitment today but Captain Etienne edges it for getting back, tackling, tracking runners and passing the ball with his head up, which was great to see. Special mention to Jacob for dribbling out of trouble and some fantastic corners too. Watch out Trent! ⚽️

Well done boys. Pleasure to coach this group, especially when they listen and stick to the game plan. Have a good weekend all. ⚽️💪
