Spotted Dog Woodworks
Carpentry, Woodworking and nice stuff for your home!
I know, it's been a looong time since last posting, but I haven't done much "original" work - more of the same stuff you've seen before - but I DID just finish a custom plaque for a friend. He retired as an aircraft maintenance officer from the USAF, and was presented this F-16 cannon barrel with no way to display it.
I made a plaque in an extended shape of an F-16 jet intake (it's not perfectly symmetrical; I hit a rotted spot I had to take off the bottom of one side) and used our makerspace's laser to engrave in the barrel's history as well as his squadron patches and slots for challenge coins. I also left space for putting on velcro to display other patches. The back is overengineered with wall mounts to ensure it stays up - between the gun barrel and solid maple plaque it weighs around 25-30 lbs.
