On the 24th day of July 2024, the scouts executed their plans for recruitment and enrichment—BSP-LVD Club Orientation. The orientation was dedicated to filling up the minds and embarking on a voyage of discovery that illuminated the rich history, noble values, and boundless opportunities that lie within the world of Scouting for the potential members.

As part of our incessant commitment to help save the planet Earth, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines is pleased to announce our continuous participation to the 2024 Earth Hour Celebration. ⚜️🌎

We encourage all Scouting Units, Sponsoring Institutions, District Scouting Committees, Regional Offices, Local Councils, and National Office staff and employees to participate by switching off the lights for one hour (60 minutes) on March 23, 2024, around 8:30 to 9:30 PM local time, this can make a substantial difference in energy consumption and can help reduce the effect of global warming on this planet.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of one of the charter members of the BSP, Don Gabriel A. Daza.

Let us know more about Don Gabriel A. Daza:

Mr. Daza was born and raised in Borongan, Eastern Samar. Daza was the eldest of seven siblings: Carlota, Cirilo, Jesus, Rosario, Maria, and Juan. Daza was born three months before his father left to fight in the Philippine Revolution. In 1907, when Daza was 11, his father became the representative of their region to the First Philippine Legislature. That same year, he began studying at the Ateneo de Manila. While at Ateneo, he would befriend Andrés Soriano Sr. and their junior, José Cojuangco. In 1914, Daza completed a Bachelor of Arts at the Ateneo de Manila University.

On October 31, 1936, Mr. Daza and the other Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) founders officially chartered the BSP under Commonwealth Act No. 111, authorized by President Manuel Quezon. Later, he was appointed as Secretary of the Boy Scout Foundation by Joseph Stevenot and served on the BSP's National Executive Board.

Daza began serving as acting President and Chief Scout in 1951, while the incumbent President and Chief Scout, Jorge B. Vargas, was concurrently serving the position and as a member of the World Scout Committee. In 1961, he was elected to succeed Jorge B. Vargas. Daza retired as President and Chief Scout in 1968.

As an avid gardener and orchid fancier, nearly every day Daza would inspect and prune the BSP grounds with the sole BSP gardener, nicknamed Tek, and would often plant trees and flowering plants. Throughout the 1960s, Daza had PEMCO employees and Boy Scouts plant 1 million trees around the Angat Water Reservoir.

The BSP was put in charge of managing the Makiling National Scout Reservation at Mount Makiling. Daza hired an agriculturist to not only support training and camping but also to plant bananas and set up a piggery.

He also received various Scouting awards, like the Bronze Wolf Award conferred by the World Scout Committee and the Mount Makiling and Tanglaw ng Kabataan Awards, the highest awards given by the BSP to an individual.

Mr. Daza served as Chief Scout of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines from 1961 to 1968.

On January 31, 2024, the members of the Outfit 128 Scouts took part in the Team Building Activity in which it enables them to reunite and rediscover their abilities, making task effectively and creates an environment that is beneficial in which they allow themselves to take advantages of greater opportunities and conquer more challenges.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines Outfit 128 of Liceo del Verbo Divino Inc. successfully conducted the Campus Wide Clean-Up Drive on January 17, 2024. With this activity, the scouts help maintain the cleanliness and improved the quality of our beloved school.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 8 conducted the Fire Square Roadshow at the Activity Area of Robinsons North Tacloban together with the Outfit 128 Scouts, LVD-CAT Officers, SSM Department, and LVD First Aiders Club Members from Liceo del Verbo Divino Inc. and also the students from Marasbaras National High School.

The Fire Square Roadshow aims to raise awareness of Fire Prevention and Emergency Responses among young generations. They were able to learn the basic knowledge in preventing natural calamities through engaging and enjoyable activities.

On January 8, 2024, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 8 conducted the Earthquake and Fire Drill Orientation together with the Outfit 128 Officers, LVD-CAT Officers, SSM Department, and LVD First Aiders Club Members of Liceo del Verbo Divino Inc. at the VOR Hall.

Through this program, the students leaders in each department refresh their knowledge about these untimely catastrophes that can destory everyone's lives, where in they successfully demonstrated such as putting out a fire using a fire hose and a wet blanket and the proper use of fire extinguisher. They also participated in the earthquake drill with their highest level of enthusiasm.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines commemorates the nationalism and 127th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal on 30 December 2023.

Today, let's remember one of the most famous quotes of Dr. Rizal, "The youth is the hope of our future." As Scouts, we are expected to live by the Scout Oath and Law and contribute to nation-building for the betterment of our country and for the benefit of the next generation.
