The USS INDIANA is the 16th Virginia Class nuclear submarine and the third U.S. As a nonprofit organization, monetary gifts are tax deductible. Join us in supporting the USS INDIANA and crew. Indiana, a Virginia-class submarine designated SSN 789, is the fourth ship to be named for the state. The previous ship of the name, a battleship (BB 58), earned nine battle stars for World War II service tha

t included downing several enemy aircraft during the Battle of the Philippine Sea (June 19-20, 1944). Indiana is home to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, the Navy's premier engineering, acquisition and sustainment organization which supports the nation's maritime warriors. This next-generation attack submarine provides the Navy with the capabilities required to maintain the nation's undersea supremacy well into the 21st century. Virginia-class submarines have enhanced stealth, sophisticated surveillance capabilities, and special warfare enhancements that enable them to meet the Navy's multi-mission requirements. The USS Indiana has the capability to attack targets ashore with highly accurate Tomahawk cruise missiles and conduct covert long-term surveillance of land area, littoral waters or other sea-based forces. Other missions include anti-submarine and anti-ship warfare; mine delivery and minefield mapping. It is also designed for special forces delivery and support. SSN 789 was built at Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Va., It's 7,800-tons and 377 feet in length, has a beam of 34 feet and operates at more than 25 knots submerged. It is designed with a reactor plant that will not require refueling during the planned life of the ship, reducing lifecycle costs while increasing underway time. Objectives

To Develop and execute a fundraising strategy that will permit the following. Identify and collect funding sources to provide for the Support of the USS INDIANA. Grow and maintain a relationship between the crew of the USS INDIANA and the State of INDIANA

In pursuit of this mission, the USS INDY Association will uphold the values of the United States Navy and that of the State of Indiana. Ownership

The USS INDY Association was incorporated in 2014 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. It is a charity registered with the Internal Revenue Service and the Indiana Secretary of State. The USS INDY Association is not affiliated with any Federal or State Agency and is a separate legal entity operating under its own auspices.

Following opening arguments before the Indiana Supreme Court, USS Indiana presented their case to State Leaders, including Treasurer of State and Secretary of State. They were recognized for their Great work by Indiana Senator Rod Bray and the Indiana Senate and Indiana Representatives Jim Lucas, Randall Frye and Speaker of the House Todd Huston and the Indiana House of Representatives. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita and Governor Eric Holcomb Greatly Thanked all for their efforts.
