Vegan CNY

Advocating for animals while building a community of advocates. Sharing vegan info, local vegan event

Hey look! Jessica, Jim and Stephanie accepting a donation from Spectrum

It's always so amazing when individuals or businesses contribute to Vegan CNY. Here we see Doug MacEwen presenting a check for $1000 to go toward Food Share costs.

Vegan CNY's Food Share offers hot, health meals to food insecure people in the Syracuse area every weekend. Help like this is very much appreciated!

Folks sometimes ask how they can help with Vegan CNY's Food Share if they aren't able to cook or attend on Saturdays to serve.

Another option is to purchase items from our Amazon wish list. With the cold weather on its way, we recently added some warm items and toiletries that we'll distribute along with hot homemade meals. Don't see something in the price range you're looking for? There's also a gift card on the list that can be set for any amount, as low as $5. We can combine gift card funds to purchase larger items or items that didn't make it to the list.

This December, Vegan CNY is planning on "catering" Eastern Farm Workers Association (EFWA)'s Holiday Party.

If you're not familiar with EFWA, they are an all-volunteer organization based in Syracuse that advocates for vulnerable individuals and families throughout the region. They set up free medical clinics, assist with obtaining legal aid, provide back to school supplies, put together food baskets, and much, much more.

Vegan CNY has worked with EFWA in the past, and this year we've agreed to cook up a big, plant-based holiday dinner.

The details are still being worked out, but we'll be looking for a handful of volunteers to cook up a feast the night before the event. The cooking will be a party in itself-- a bunch of like-minded vegan types gathering together in the spirit of giving and community and all that good stuff. Who knows, there could even be music...

Tentative cooking date is December 7, somewhere in Syracuse.

If you think you'd like to participate, contact Jim Thompson and let him know.

BIG news!!
Strong Hearts and Upstate Medical University partnered to offer great vegan options at the downtown cafeteria!!
What a great move for employees, visitors, and the animals!

Today we are starting an exciting partnership with Upstate University Hospital! Strong Hearts is now offering grab-and-go options in the hospital's cafeteria. This offering comes as part of SUNY Upstate Medical University's sustainability initiatives to provide more sustainable and healthful food options for hospital staff, students, and visitors. We are thrilled to be able to provide more vegan options for those in the healthcare setting. In the hospital's cafeteria on East Adams Street, hospital patrons can now enjoy some of our fan favorites such as Thai Tofu Salad, Chicken Salad Sandwich, Dill Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad and Mediterranean Salad! 👩‍⚕️🥗🤝
