Sunday afternoon therapy.

Getting the farm purdy again. After 2 months of extreme heat and drought, I seen green again.

14 years into my plumbing career, I realized I was doing the same thing everyday and expecting different results. As a Master Plumbing Contractor, I had a "doctorate" in my field of expertise. I was the CEO of my company, in fact, a CEO of 3 companies at the same time... and I was miserable and locked 🔒 in to being a slave to them.
43 yrs old and tired, I saw a Facebook post a friend made about a side gig he and his wife started. We talked, I signed up and got to work. 40-60 hrs a week plumbing and adding the side gig into the nooks and crannies of time in my day, I retired from plumbing at 50. So below are my 5 reason why I Love the power of a Side Gig....

So many times in my Life I just stayed Silent.

Just grabbed my 🍿 and watched them squirm.

Had a plumber totally mess up a repipe on New Year's Eve. Crossed lines twice. Burning through man hours to correct it. Used the white pex piping and not the red/blue as instructed.
Guys were were working late in the evening to find the crossed lines and correct them in the attic.
The next business day, 3 days later, I didn't say a word about it. The next day, same. He came into my office, closed the door and said, "so when are you going to yell at me for messing up... I've been loosing sleep and had a horrible weekend beating myself up about it!!!"
He was mad 😠.... I said, "you put yourself through all that?" He said, "YES!!! IT SUCKED!!!"
I very calmly said, "then why would I need to yell at you for it? Sounds like you learned your lesson on your own!"
He sat down, looked defeated 😕 and said he had learned a huge lesson.

Being silent isn't a sign of weakness, but strength 💪 of maturity. So it cost me a few extra $$ man hours. He and the crew never used anything but red and blue pex for main runs ever again...

So many people just give up after 50...

I live to live!!! I want more hiking, hunting, fishing, skiing, jeeping and adventuring. I'M NOT DONE!!!

Guys my age are looking for those retirement communities because they are getting close to being able to "get in". F-THAT!!!!
I want mountains, high altitudes and challenging back country expeditions. You can have that "waiting to die" community.

I've earned each gray hair... but age is just a number.

You can't force open a rose... you'll rip the pedals.... but He can open it.

Using water from the hot side of your plumbing system is great for certain things.
I NEVER suggest using the hot water to fill pots for cooking or for consumption.

This tank is really how most electric water heaters look on the inside. Gas ones not so bad, but still have debris in them too.

So, be aware. This just might be what yours looks like.
