Happy 4th of July!
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provided tax credit relief to a wider group of Americans than ever before, including tens of thousands of uninsured individuals across the Midwest. This monumental expansion of subsidies drastically improved our health care system, but the expansion was only temporary. At the end of this year, the subsidies will expire if Congress doesn’t intervene to make them permanent.
The Midwest Council sent a letter to Senator Tammy Baldwin asking that she work with her colleagues in Washington to pass legislation that makes premium subsidies permanent. Residents across the Midwest are counting Congress to protect their access to affordable care. This action must be taken now, before the summer recess — before it’s too late and the subsidies expire.
Happy Memorial Day! Today, we thank those who have bravely served this great nation.
Happy Easter!

Earlier this year, Congress took an important step to protect access to health care by extending the expansion of federal insurance marketplace subsidies to include millions more Americans. It was the right call at the right time so no one lost coverage at a time they needed it most.
The Midwest Council recently contacted Senator Debbie Stabenow to ensure that an extension of those subsidies is included in the budget. Millions of Americans are counting on Congress to protect their coverage.
Health care is one of the most important issues facing families across the Midwest - and Congress must extend, or make permanent, the marketplace health insurance subsidies so American families can afford the health coverage they need. The Midwest Council recently contacted Senator Tammy Baldwin and encouraged her to advocate for the subsidy extension on behalf of millions of Americans.

Important piece in The Capital Times about the need for Congress to help dialysis patients in Wisconsin. Hope to see this bill passed soon.
Richard Muehlbauer: Bill helps kidney patients get needed coverage "Dialysis is expensive, and unless you have the proper coverage, you can end up paying for significant portions of it out of pocket."
