Halloween potluck at Museum Support Center- Belvoir! Great food and good friends and colleagues.
Yesterday I visited one of the true undiscovered gems of the Army museum community at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The Army has a small museum and outdoor missile/aircraft park there. As a result of a generous private gift, we were able to renovate the museum to tell the story of the indigenous past and Army presence in the Southwest, as well as the Army’s missile and space programs beginning with the Manhattan Project. Come see it!
Today I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Naomi, Elisa, Mike, and Leigh, my all star colleagues who run the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss Museum. It looks very empty because the museum is being renovated for a 2025 reopening! I’m so proud of this crew.
Excited to announce that our American Revolution 250 subsite is live at https://www.history.army.mil! Check it out for tons of resources, an interactive calendar of events, tips for how to get the Army involved in your local events, and more!
New Museum Smell! Some photos from today’s grand opening of the Museum of the Mounted Warrior at Ft. Cavazos, TX. The all star staff there designed and installed the temporary exhibit, with combat photos of the Normandy invasion and siege of Cherbourg, with other images and objects from the war in Europe. Well done!
Get up! It’s a great day to open the National Mounted Warrior Museum at Fort Cavazos, Texas!!!!
