Ten-7 Quilting

Me Ke Aloha began as a fundraiser for a gymnastic team travelling to Hawaii. After the fundraiser ended we were still in demand, watch us grow!

This is 55! Of all the things I would be doing and the places I imagined I would be when I turned fifty-five… a littler older, a little wiser, a little grey (we fixed that), maybe a little slower but getting faster everyday and having lots of fun! Happy Birthday to me!

HQ Stitch 510 for the win when the hubby needs a custom made custom fit quick release hand sling for his competition rifle. This machine sews through the webbing like butter!

I taught this class at Bluebird Quilt Studio in Nampa Idaho and here are a few of the finished bags. Aren’t they adorable!

Old blanket becomes new piece of art. Swipe to see the transformation:
🎄
More than 30 years ago my mom took me to a gigantic fabric store in San Francisco, Britex. I bought two pieces of Christmas prints that year. I made a mantle cover for my mom, which she still has and I made this very simple lap blanket for my sister. She used it every Christmas for her Christmas village decorations.
🎄
Last Christmas she had a Candle accident and wax melted all over part of the fabric. She tried all the methods of removing the wax to no avail and told me she was devastated. It wasn’t a fabulously constructed piece of art but it had become part of her family tradition and Christmas decor.
❄️
I had her mail it to me and I took it apart with a plan to create something different and new but to salvage as much of the old fabric as possible. I added in some red and green and golden cream to create this new village quilt. Good luck putting things on it! I think I like it better as a wall hanging! May it last another 30 years!

Hot off the machine, well more like off the little appliqué needle I used to hand stitch the binding on the inside so all seams are finished. And just in time for the weekend, I have a weekend bag or more likely a bag for my next retreat which is coming right up!
