Kids are amazing at memorizing... Song lyrics, movie quotes, what you said you were going to have for dinner 😬.
What an opportunity to be helping them to store up God's Word in their hearts and minds as they grow.
At times we've done topical verses relating to chatecism questions or something they are currently struggling with, but one of our favorite ways to memorize is to do a whole passage of Scripture! This helps fight against taking ideas out of context, helps them learn the flow of thought in the passage, and I think will help them remember where verses are later on.
We love using these Scripture Memory Cards for kids to make learning fun and to use many layers of engagement as they learn (reading, picture cues, repeating, and we always throw in actions, too!)
Remember, the goal is never to memorize a lot just for the sake of it, but to help them know God through His Word.
