Palm Beach Elite combine information coming soon!
Have you ever tried a DB burpee over box? It's a tough, grinding movement that is awkward and wears you down quickly.
Its also a game changer if a team has a player that can do them efficiently. The entire movement takes anywhere from 3-5 seconds per rep. If you have a player that stays on the low end for 10 reps, while the other team has a player on the high end... losing a half a second or more per rep... it creates a deficit extremely difficult to overcome later in the race.
This is a prominent movement in the Echos, in one match format, which make up 4 of the 11 races. Needless to say, this movement alone can drastically affect the outcome of the entire match.
A big part of GRID is utilizing unique movements that people typcially rarely or never train AND may favor a specific body type. The DB burpee over box is a great example because height is an advantage.
Teams MUST strongly consider these types of movements when building their roster. It does not matter how efficient a team is in the standard movements like sn**ch or pullup, if the team gets tripped up on the unique movements.
Teams may sign a player not just for a specific skill set... but a specific MOVEMENT. Acute specialization is just as important as wide reaching generalization. There are players in the League weighing about 100lbs, and others well over 300lbs. Under 5' to almost 7'.... and EVERYTHING in between.
Part of the beauty of our sport is that you use what you are naturally good at to contribute to your team. That may be a generalist that does a lot, or a specialist that's main funciton is a movement or two in a key race. Both are very important.
You never know what movement you might be good at that could be really important for a team to have. Contact a team or message us, learn more and come to a combine. Don't miss out on a chance to play a sport you are perfect for because you weren't aware of how you are.
