Merry Boxing Day πŸ€ͺπŸŽ„ It’s snowing a little bit here! ⛄️ Today is our second Christmas! We’re finally allowed out πŸ₯³so we’re heading to my mums for dinner with the family. What do you guys get up to on Boxing Day usually? Do you have any traditions?? ❀️

MERRY CHRISTMAS 🌟 πŸŽ„The boys gave us the best reactions to their presents and have had us in stitches watching them play their wee games (see my stories πŸ˜‚). We also had some kind of Christmas miracle this morning where I got my sense of taste back πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ just in time for all the Christmas food today! πŸ₯³ Tell me your fav thing about Christmas dinner? For me it’s the BREAD SAUCE 😍

20/12/2021

Happy Monday or whatever day it is 😬 I’ve lost all sense of time now I swear 🀣 Are you guys organised for Christmas? I’m going to start wrapping the kids stuff tonight while watching another episode of You Don’t Know Me (shoutout to all of you who recommended it!). Every year I say I’ll be super organised and every year I have a knot in my stomach in the days before Christmas because I have so much to do 🀣 are you super organised or in a last minute rush like me 🀯?

(Excuse the old pic I look horrendous today πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚)

We're on day 5 of isolation and fingers crossed, we seem to be on the mend (although I know covid can be very up and down). So far, it's been very mild for me and a little bit worse for Andy but nothing major. Kids are still negative! 🀯 The isolation hasn't been too bad, I actually think the kids have been enjoying their time at home with us ❀️ Can't wait to get back out though and to catch up with the Christmas festivities! So glad we had this wee santa visit before all this happened πŸŽ…πŸ»

Check them out this weekend if you're in town ❀️

Out of the woods Scotland is at the Merchant Square market today and tomorrow

It's feeling super cosy in here πŸ”₯ I'm updating this dining area at the moment - I bought these chairs from FB marketplace for Β£20 and painted them, I am in LOVE with how they look 😍We've bought a new table from market place too which is coming soon. Then I want a rug for underneath, some decoration for that back wall and new curtains. I'm just so happy with this room! ❀️ I've set myself the goal to finish this room before starting on the kids room, although with 10 days isolation ahead, I might find myself painting their room out of boredom 🀣

Feeling Christmassy πŸŽ„β€οΈ

01/12/2021

It's actually amazing that you can just explore a huge ship in Glasgow for free! ❀️ We went to the Riverside Museum today and then onto The Tall Ship and the kids loved it, even if it was freezing πŸ€£β„οΈ (kids don't feel the cold though do they?πŸ˜‚). Anyway, I really want to book some christmassy events for the kids over the next few weeks - I drove past ice skating at Kelvingrove earlier and it looks amazing! What are you guys looking forward to going to this December?

21/11/2021

I started the prep for Christmas decorations today. Does anyone else find the whole process so overwhelming πŸ˜‚ I've decided I'm going to do it in stages - some lights and stuff outside first (see my stories for the cutest BARGAIN light up stags!), then I'm going to do the indoors decorations one day and then the big finale is the Christmas tree πŸŽ„ I'm doing that bit last to time in with the advent calendar on the 1st of December (and also to make my life easier so I'm saying 'stop touching the tree' for less time πŸ˜‚). If you're decorating, when do you plan on starting?! Or are you done already?πŸ˜‚βœ¨βœ¨

ad And the magic starts here! 😭 ✨ πŸŽ…πŸ» πŸŽ„ OMG I'm feeling so Christmassy today! We took the boys to the Santa's grotto today and it was just amazing. Writing letters to Santa, sitting on the sleigh, the moving animals in the winter wonderland and the BEST Santa I've ever seen πŸ˜‚β€οΈ it's only Β£5 per child and 100% of the proceeds go towards the Strathcarron hospice πŸ‘ link to book is in my stories (along with some of the cutest wee moments)!! Go quick! ❀️

Someone's feeling better 😬 What a week we've had with this one. High temperature for days and hardly eating anything - turns out he had tonsillitis and didn't even mention a sore throat 😭 it's so hard just now with kids and all the bugs going around. Constantly hearing about covid cases, chicken pox and norovirus so I'm on edge 24/7 πŸ₯΄ Think I'm invited to the Christmas party at the covid testing centre we've been there so much πŸ™ƒ

So I'm going to replace four of the big gold frames in my hallway with family photos and I cannot, FOR THE LIFE OF ME, decide which 4 to put on display. Do I use photos of just us? Or if I have some photos of other family members, is it mean to not include everyone?! πŸ˜‚ if I chose a nice photo that's clearly Autumn, should I avoid summer photos in the other 3? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ WHY do I always overthink these things? πŸ˜‚ Anyway this ones a top contender because that wee face 😭

15/11/2021

TWO YEARS since I officially left my job of 10 years and went full-time with whatever this is called πŸ€ͺ πŸ₯³ And even with a pandemic in the first year it was the best thing I've ever done! ❀️ πŸ₯‚ Feeling super motivated just now with all the plans for the next few months especially for the - and by the way, the amount of DMs about today's ep πŸ€πŸ˜‚ Have you listened yet? 🫁 πŸ˜‚

What a wedding! ❀️😍 We had such a lovely time at our friends special day yesterday πŸ‘°β€β™€οΈ πŸ’• πŸ€΅β€β™‚οΈ It was the most beautiful venue and a lovely atmosphere of candles, beautiful dried flowers, the dream wedding decor πŸ‘Œand most importantly just lots of happy faces! ❀️ It was so good to get some time with just me and Andy too, child-free, our first night out together in ages! AND I got to meet the legend πŸ™Œ the best day! (not the best morning today though πŸ˜‚πŸ€’)

SO.. the freakiest thing ever happened earlier and I'm still a bit 🀯 about it. I ended up having to go into town this afternoon for the first time in ages. I took Oliver on the train cos he loves it and as we walked into the station, I remembered I had a really vivid dream last night where Oliver fell onto train tracks 😭 And in the dream, I was watching as the train was going over him and by some miracle he was okay afterwards. So that freaked me out a bit but I didn't say anything obv and I was just holding onto his hand and making sure he didn't launch himself onto the tracks 😬 Well imagine my horror when Oliver says 'See in my dream last night? I fell onto that track'. 😳 I'm sorry but WHAT. How weird is that?! I think he's only ever mentioned his dreams to me once before and somehow we had the exact same dream last night 😭 has anything like that ever happened to you guys? I swear kids have a sixth sense.

I was saying on stories last night how weird little things remind me of my weekends as a child. It was always a 'breakfast dinner' on a Saturday night - bacon, eggs, beans and a waffle πŸ€ͺ the lights were always really warm and yellow inside and it would be dark outside while we watched gladiators, blind date and noels house party πŸ‘ My mum would always be ironing while we watched tv and occasionally she'd surprise us with a big bag of crisps or chocolate biscuits🀣 you guys were saying watching 'Heartbeat' on a Sunday night while dreading school the next day was a classic too! πŸ˜‚ And what about SMTV live on a Saturday morning 😭😭 Tell me more cos I love reminiscing πŸ˜‚ (I also wonder what Oliver and Marcus's memories will be! Soft play on a Sunday morning is a definite πŸ˜‚)

FIVE!!πŸŽ‚ We have the most excited wee boy this morning! As sweet as ever, super grateful and excited at even the smallest wee present and sharing everything with his wee brother ❀️ we've got a day off today playing with all his toys, a birthday dinner and then the countdown is on for his party on Sunday! πŸŽ‰β€οΈ

October adventures begin πŸŽƒ We went to the this afternoon - it's all Halloween themed and so fun for the kids! You can follow the map round (we got lost cos we aren't too bright πŸ˜‚) and every stop has something fun at it. The kids loved the wee wooden house with the fairy lights 😍 We sprinkled fairy dust, and took our time walking the path and ended up in the pumpkin patch at the end! Such a lovely day out and definitely recommended ❀️ {gifted tickets}. What's on your autumn bucket list this year? I love how many things there are to do at this time of year! ❀️❀️

Gone are the days when I say smile and they smile πŸ˜‚ πŸ“Έ we are all KNACKERED after a busy few days away, it's true that you need a holiday after a holiday with kids πŸ™ƒπŸ˜‚ Highly recommend exploring Fife if you're looking to do a wee staycation in Scotland. We had so many things to keep us busy, and so many more things still on our list to do next time! ❀️ I did a little tour of our accommodation on stories earlier - was BEAUTIFUL and the perfect location (go have a look!πŸ˜‰). We are going to make the most of olivers last year before school and do some more off-peak staycations - let me know your fav places to visit in Scotland and I'll check them out ❀️ 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Swipe for the end result of a busy day πŸ€ͺπŸ‘‰ you guys have made so many suggestions for things to do while we're in Fife so today we went to St. Andrews beach, got lunch at the cheese toasty shack (πŸ˜πŸ‘Œ) and then drove over to Craigtoun park. We have been SO lucky with the weather this week, my app told me it was going to rain every day 🀣 We went out on the scooters tonight and down to another beach and the sunset just made it all look so lovely. Tonight is our last night and we've got time for a morning thing/early afternoon thing tomorrow - what should we do?! We are stuck between Muddy boots, St. Andrews west sands beach, the Deer Centre or Tentsmuir! What would they like best?! ❀️

There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes! πŸ˜‰πŸŒ§ A beach trip in the rain yesterday 🏝 Marcus is working his way through Oliver's hand-me-down jackets this weekend and it's like a constant deja vu πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

Thanks to everyone who has recommended - we had such a good morning there! ✨ If you've never been, add it to your list too! ✍🏻 There's so much to do for the kids - slides, trampolines, toboggan rides, a maze, huge hay bales to climb on, a park. Strawberry picking was so fun too and we came straight home to make a chocolate fondue with them πŸ€£πŸ“Have any of you guys been to Cairnie farm before?

THIS πŸ‘† is the exact type of day that I've been looking forward to! ❀️ We would have been flying out to Portugal on Monday but I'm actually so glad we decided against it, I'm buzzing for an outdoorsy break here in Scotland next week 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I've been too scared to book anything because we have had to cancel so many things in the last 18 months SO we have our plans in mind, we are ready to go and I'll be booking last minute on Sunday to reduce the risk of something going wrong 🀣 Are any of you away for September weekend or any time soon? I think this is the best time of year to get away! 😍

Photos from Eilidh Wells's post 14/09/2021

This weekend was the 5 year anniversary of one of the scariest days of my life. We all went to my brothers house one Sunday afternoon for a bbq and were sitting chatting before dinner when my mum said her back was sore. She thought she'd pulled a muscle or maybe a trapped nerve but I could see in her face it was really uncomfortable. She went to get some fresh air but in typical style of my mum, didn't make a big deal of it. After a few minutes, I could see it was getting worse and I offered to take her up to the local hospital to get it checked. So me, my sister and my mum got into the car. We started to panic more in the car when my mum wasn't talking, her skin was so pale and she was clearly in a lot of pain. For some reason, we still didn't phone 999. In hindsight, it's crazy. We were on the phone to NHS 24 and were now driving to the main hospital. We were on the motorway and I just remember thinking this was now a life and death situation. It was so surreal. My mum was 59 - healthy, slim, fit with no health conditions. After a huge drama inside (a whole other story), she was blue lighted to another hospital. It was a heart attack. It came completely out the blue. It didn't look like you'd expect it to look. She didn't clutch her chest and fall to the ground. It's so awful to remember that day because with hindsight, I feel like I'm screaming at us saying 'phone 999!'. Maybe it's in our culture to stay calm and not be overly dramatic. Or maybe it was denial, I don't know. The reason I'm sharing this is because I want everyone to remember that 999 is there to be used. If you think you need it, don't be scared to call it. I also wanted to highlight that heart attacks aren't always the typical symptoms. In women, they can have upper back pain, indigestion, extreme fatigue, jaw or neck pain. It's so important to be aware of these different symptoms so you can identify what's happening asap and call for help. We were so lucky that my mum was okay. ❀️

Really want to get this little one a plane soon! 😭 We haven't cancelled our flights yet but I think we are postponing our Portugal trip. I've been so back and forth on the idea of travelling right now - part of me is desperate to get away and the other part is reading all the news of cases rising and thinking it's not worth the risk. Hearing of families being stuck abroad after testing positive have really scared me - I struggle to stay sane if I'm stuck indoors with the kids until lunch time never mind 10 days in a hotel room, with no snacks and that's not even considering being unwell at the same time. It's so, so hard to know what's right because if this is the 'new normal' then it seems like everything will have a risk won't it? I don't want them to miss out on childhood holidays for years. I genuinely don't know what the answer is. I know so many people have been abroad and been fine, but how do you know if you'll be the same?! I really think we will be making our final decision a few days before. What's your thoughts on going abroad just now, have you been? Would you go?

I can just feel it getting that little bit easier with these two recently. Marcus is understanding more, and can talk so well now which helps massively. I used to be quite nervous taking them somewhere on my own, especially the supermarket or into town! I'd worry that they'd run opposite ways (that's happened before ) but I'm a lot more confident with them now! Marcus has also been escaping less which is always a good thing! πŸ˜‚ I swear he spent the first two years of his life trying to run/climb as far away as possible from everyone he knew 🀣
