02/12/2023

ANNOUNCEMENT:
It’s the 1st of December (unbelievably!) which would ordinarily mean the launch of the last of this year’s yarns. Unfortunately though, the dyer lined up for this month is no longer able to take part, which means that there won’t be a new yarn this month. November saw not just one, but three limited edition yarns available and Shadow and Rosie have very kindly agreed to keep these yarns available for sale through December so if you only bought one last month, then there are still 2 new-to-you yarns for you to choose from this month, each with a donation going to
I’m really sorry but December is a hectic time for us all, dyers included so it’s tricky to get anything lined up at the last minute. But to make up for it, I’ll also be holding a massive raffle on Sunday with lots of scrummy prizes so there’s another chance for you to support - keep your eyes peeled on this feed for more details.

Photos from Flower Power Fund's post 27/11/2023

There’s just three more days to get your hands on any of this month’s limited edition skeins….’Northern Lights’ from and ‘Day’ and ‘Night’ (swipe to see) from - all with a donation from every skein going to
Which skein will you choose?

Have you got yourself an advent calendar yet this year?
The last 4 advent calendars are still available from online - 30% of sales go to so this year why not ditch the chocolate advent and go for yarn instead? You’ll be treating yourself and helping bring some comfort and joy to others this Christmas 💛

26/11/2023

This is the challenge that started off my challenges - to knit 50 pairs of Christmas pudding socks! 11 months on and I am just casting off pair number 23, so have reached the sad realisation that with only 4 weeks to go until Christmas Eve I have no hope of knitting another 27 pairs by Christmas Day 😢
I have contacted everyone whose pairs are ready and they will be winging their way to you by next weekend. I’m so sorry to let everyone else down and not be able to provide a pair by this Christmas….however, I am not one to be defeated so my plan is simply to extend the deadline and complete the 50 pairs by my 50th birthday at the end of May next year. So everyone who has ordered a pair will absolutely have a pair by Christmas next year. 🧦🧦
I am really sorry to let people down - I’m hoping that the knowledge that you will still get a pair, just a little bit later than planned, will be some consolation.
A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has supported by ordering a pair, sponsoring or donating…so far I have completed 17 challenges, and have another 8 still underway with 25 more to dream up….and have raised over £7500 for Marie Curie UK thanks to your incredibly generous support - THANKYOU 👏🏻💛💛💛
And huge thanks to Shadow from Felt Fusion and Lucy McKelvey for their incredible support in providing yarn and Stone Knits for generously allowing me to use the fabulous Christmas Pudding socks pattern

A slightly quieter today, so you’ll be relieved to hear I won’t be drowning your social media feeds with Abba today!!
But I wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to you all for your support. There’s lots of negativity about social media, but it did a lot of good yesterday - not only did all your comments really cheer me on, but all your sharing, commenting and generous donations meant we raised have raised a whopping £2872 so far! When I started out on Sunday evening I hoped to raise £550, which would be enough to fund 24 hours of a Marie Curie UK nurse in the community, but you’ve smashed it and have now raised enough to pay for 124 hours, that’s 5 whole days of Marie Curie nursing in the community.
You are all Super Troupers, thank YOU!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

13/11/2023

Halfway!!! 50.89 miles walked, bikes and climbed and £745 raised! Thanks to Ellie Kane for amazing Marathon brownies and tea which has given me a boost for the next half.
Thank you so much for all your support and donations - I’m so grateful 🙏 Can you help me get to £1000 please? The more people know about it, the more chance I have of getting there….

Apologies for hijacking the news to let you know about my latest challenge, but I am hoping as it’s also in aid of you’ll forgive me.
As you may know, as well as coordinating the Flower Power Fund I’m also a doctor working for , and to celebrate my 50th birthday next year, I’m taking on 50 challenges to raise money for
Challenge #23 might just be my most bonkers yet….I’m doing a Tri-Abbathon! That’s 24 hours, dressed in an Abba costume, listening to Abba, and alternating between the treadmill, stepper machine and exercise bike in our hospice gym for 24 hours non-stop. Mamma Mia!
It’s starting at 5pm on Sunday 12th November and hopefully I’ll get through to 5pm on Monday 13th without needing to shout SOS!
I’ve raised £4750 from my challenges so far, and with this one I’d love to raise enough to pay for an hour of nursing care with every hour I keep going - that’s £23 every hour, so aiming for another £550 in the pot in total.
Please could you help by spreading the word and telling as many people as possible who might be prepared to sponsor me? I know times are tough, and I’ve already asked for lots, so if you could just tell a friend who might be able to donate, I’d really appreciate it. Here’s hoping I can raise a bit more ‘Money money money!’ 😉

Here they are in all their glory….and how uncanny that both dyers have independently chosen the skies as their inspiration?!
Day and Night, both from Felt Fusion and Northern Lights from Rosies moments are all live and ready to order now with either £4 or £3 from every skein going to Marie Curie UK
I wonder what they’d look like knitted together in a project? 🤔

31/10/2023

Unbelievably it’s that time again! Tomorrow is the start of November which means it’s time for another yarn, and this time, as a special treat in the run up to Christmas (oops, I said it!) there are not one but two dyers. Once again, both will be using the inspiration ‘50laps round the sun’ to come up with something special.
Both have been dyers of the month in previous years, and have been huge supporters of the Flower Power Fund since the very beginning, so I’m delighted they’ve agreed to dye again
Once again, a donation from every skein sold will go to Marie Curie UK
This month’s dyers are…..drumroll please…..Rosies moments and Felt Fusion
Please head over to their pages for full details - both yarns are launching tomorrow morning at 9

How lovely are these? This month’s special skeins are still available, but there’s not long left until the end of the month, so make sure you don’t miss out! £3 from both skeins goes to who are working to ensure a better end of life for all. At the moment, one in four people go without the care and support they need - but the good news is that you can help to start to change that, just by buying yarn!

Posted • My Sunrise and Sunset merino nylon yarn for went on a little trip to the coast a few weeks ago.
Three pounds from each skein goes to this fabulous fundraising initiative and there are still a few of each colour available.
If you haven't tried yarn dyed with natural dyes before, what better time to check them out. The blue comes from indigo and the orange from madder.
Each skein has been scoured and mordanted before dyeing in multiple dye baths. Mr AT thought that the madder skeins looked like a Zoom ice lolly when some of them were drying on the line, so we thought they might look fun as ice lollies against the rooftops with the sea in the distance.
