is this Tuesday, Nov. 28! Your donation allows NMACT and CDPC to prioritize the health of New Mexicans like when we gathered to the Santa Fe City Council speaking in favor of banning smoking in the Plaza. This new rule has prevented New Mexicans from being exposed to cancer-causing secondhand smoke while outdoors in the plaza for events such as the Santa Fe Bandstand music series, which draws large crowds.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of disability and death in the US;
and if not controlled, may result in health problems such as stroke, kidney disease, vision loss, and amputation. Heart disease can also be a serious health problem for people with diabetes. CDPC's Prevent Diabetes Workgroup brings stakeholders together to collaborate to solve issues relating to diabetes care and bring education to New Mexico communities.

Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of race, color, national origin, or income, to develop, implement, and enforce environmental laws, regulations, and policies. The EJI delivers a single environmental justice score for each community so that public health officials can identify and map areas most at risk for the health impacts of environmental burden. Social factors such as poverty, race, and ethnicity, along with pre-existing health conditions may increase these impacts. This tool helps public health officials prioritize action for those communities most at need.
