After a 24 hour transit from kathmandu i was feeling a little tired and impatient on the sydney cityrail this morning. A lady came in looking as tired and stressed as I felt. She tentatively asked me how to get to her stop and what time it would arrive.
Turns out she'd just been through a 24 hour last minute flight from canada as her mother has recently been made palliative down under. After a few texts and minutes of providing assistance to planning her travel logistics to the hospital we both went quiet.
As i went to leave the train she reached into her bag and tearfully pulled out a can of canadian maple syrup her family makes as a thank you.

"If you have people in your heart, they won't get under your skin". 🙌💜

At a carers conference and this jumped out at me. A bit of tolerance, empathy or understanding can not only help you connect with others it will almost always decrease your internal stress/anxiety/fears. I like to think of it as a kindness carousel.

Make the hatred that you hear from your Satan disappear / from that devil on your shoulder to an angel in your ear / grab life by the horns and never stumble through / so when they say dream on, that's exactly what you fu**in' do...🙏

Giving!
Its that time of year (for some cultures) where gift giving is a socially required norm or pressured vice. How about this

Give youself a break ✌
Give someone 5 minutes of your undivided attention 😶
Give someone a smile 😂
Give yourself a good night sleep 😴
Give someone (or something) a hug 🤗
Give your tummy good food 🍍
Give kindness to a stranger 😊
Give that other car space to merge 🚗
Give those in need a hand 🤲
Give yourself 5 quite minutes somewhere nice 🏕
Give away something you haven't used in a while 🥌
Give up on anger or resentment 😌
Give a surprise 🤪
Give up on perfection 🎁
Give in to joy 😏🙌

Losing a brother, finding himself 04/08/2018

Today is universal today-day. Today is today, not yesterday, not tomorrow, let’s all celebrate today-day today and everyday. ✌️

‘May the sun bring you new energy by day, may the moon softly restore you at night, may the rain wash away your worries, may the breeze blow new strength into your being.
May you walk through the world and know it’s beauty all the days of your life’ Apache blessing

28/04/2018

However you’re feeling today, is okay. If you’re happy, that’s okay, if you’re sad, that’s okay, if you’re hurting, that’s okay.

It is normal to react to situations emotionally, it is what humans do. If you can control the situation in some way, okay, you can change it, don’t worry. If you can’t control the situation in some way, okay, you can’t change it, it’s outside your control, don’t worry.

✌️

Today's thoughts - stimulated by last night's sunset and Andy Puddicombe's wisdom "If we live with integrity then we cannot talk of regret, we did the best that we could in that moment."

The Advantage Of Integrity:

Integrity or honesty is often thought of as whether someone lies to other people or not - whether someone's spoken words align with their actions towards others. I feel it runs so much deeper than that at starts with internal integrity - the thoughts and actions that no one ever see's and that even you, the one having those thoughts, can sub-consciously avoid.

Hence integrity starts with honesty with yourself and when you break down honesty I find it hard to come to any conclusion that involves regret or mistakes. When we are honest with ourselves, when we don't short change ourselves, when we don't convince ourselves that 'that will do', 'that's enough no one is watching', 'what does it matter if i finish, keep going, start'.

Mistakes and regrets are no longer an option. Regrets arise from perceived failures, when we believe we will do something, or act in a certain way during a given situation - however when that situation arises we do not act in the way we thought we should have = regrets. Mistakes we see as errors or problems that arise when we feel we should have done a task or action a certain way however did not execute it as planned.

With internal honesty we are more realistic about our actions and outcomes, furthermore we can view 'mistakes' more wholly. It is easy to get caught up in the idea of mistakes - that we have done the wrong thing - however there is no possible way that anyone, ever can live life by getting things 'right' the first time every time. Mistakes can therefore be seen as steps in the process of learning rather than a negative end-game.

Be honest with yourself, regrets are a by product of dis-honesty with yourself - acknowledge that you have done the best you could in the given situation, do not fear or beat yourself up about mistakes, they are the only way to grow, learn, adapt or thrive.

:)

Always time for a hurkle-durkle ✌️👌

Not many people can hold a room full of 12-14 year olds attention for 90 minutes. Even more impressive when it’s a helpful, empathic and much needed talk. So many kids engaged, asking intelligent questions, sharing their experiences and letting them know how to help or how to seek help.

Yeah ✌️👌🤙 doing it well
