Unlike cinderella.
I did not in fact go to the ball.... after all that work and preparation. I got very ill yesterday and was in no shape to go to the ball.

I have some choice words about the situation for myself. But that is it

2 weeks to go before the ball and I am so close to finishing this beast of a gown.

I might need to get my hands on some demonias or stripper heels however cause this overskirt is now the bit that's too long

UM....... REMINDER....SOME TOOLS HAVE EXPIRATION DATES ....

I'm working on the Wings for my Ball gown and uh..... just....out of no where my glue gun went BZZZTT PFFT and exploded in a cloud of black smoke ......

There is a reason you test everything together .

I am so close to having this finished but to put it all together and just look at It.

Tomorrow Sweat with Pride begins for 2024 and FINALLY . I am taking part and raising funds for our rainbow community!
So doctors can get educated on the particular needs of the transgender community,
So resources can be provided and made available in public services to those who need it and those who provide it.
So kids in school who may be questioning things at a young age can reach out to a councilor and come away feeling confident and proud of who they are instead of ashamed .

Cosplay has always been a huge outlet for those who don't feel their body's match their identity so use cosplay as an outlet to feel like their true self even if it's just for a few hours a day.

I'm committing to 42 minutes a day for all 30 days of June, weather it be a big long walk, dancing marathon or a Cardio Session .

Here's a first look at this year's outfits

So the only thing my mum wanted from Mother's day was peace, quiet and unlimited wine.
I couldn't give her one of those so I spent all day yesterday working on my ball gown for July.
In an hour I sewed together 2 massive pettie coats and a new top layer cause DANGIT I cut the original top layer WRONG.

Then oops instead of adjusting and fixing an old Hoop skirt .

Nope I decided to make a brand new hoops skirt from scratch...

It took me 8 hours. And i put in way too much detail.
Somehow this took an entire spool of thread.
But i salvaged the hoops from an skirt

Making their Convention Debuts (finally)

This is making smart cosplay choices!!! RE WEAR OLD COSPLAYS (That still fit and ...well )
I havent worn either of these costumes to a convention before and I have them all fixed up and ready for Welly geddon this weekend .
However I haven't fully decided what days I'm going to wear these. So keep your eyes peeled.

So I was going through my wardrobe of costumes I will have available for the year and these are the costumes I have available (and or are nearly ready to wear. Out)
I don't know how often I'll be able to go out and about with these cosplays but these are what I have left (that fit)
But I know I'm going to Chch Armageddon , Wellington armageddon .and possibly Spring Geddon later in the year.

3 things in these pictures.
One. Unless you desire tight curls, shake out your wigs!!! One jam to Misery Business later and the wig I have for Lambert has so much more fullness and life in it
Two, I did a make up test for lambert and don't know how I feel about the thinner tears . Nor the red eyeshadow. This is why we test, I'll just wear red contacts instead
Third , YAY CROWNS DONE

I am in shock!
I have been sewing for going on 13 years now and not ONCE have I ever known about this method.
It's called DOUBLE WELT.
It's SO much cleaner, So Much stronger, matched seams and OH MY GOD IT DOESNT LOOK DO MUCH BETTER.
and it'll make it so much faster build corsets! Ahhhhhhh!

The Genius Megan Donner explained this method in her video of 3 methods for making corsets which I've linked below (it starts at 8 minutes in )

So do I have any actual updates or progress on anything? Besides lambert , no I don't.
I have sketches and designs though, that's a start!

I don't know how many conventions or events I'm actually going to this year but we shall see as the year goes on.

I have the plans and I have unfinished projects .

After over a decade of hard work and crazy crafting, hours and hours of hemming and picking, unpicking, re sewing, My sewing machine had to be retired. The Engine has finally burned out. It breaks my heart but its time to say good bye.

Oh I haven't had a desire to make something so intense in a very long time.

I've wanted to make an Alexstrasza for so long but all the previous designs were not good for the confidence.
But....I feel like this could be the challenge u needed .

Oh please don't let me drop this one ,I need to actually finish a project and I have the spark to make armour again.

This is what i meant by I'm going kinder to myself and let myself be a little lazier .

This is a preview of my next cosplay.
The skirt I totally made from scratch so it is RIGHT.
lined properly with lavender fabric. And hand sewn buttons, spaced box pleats, ironed to perfection, (well as good as my iron will let me. )

But the crop jacket I've repurposed from a scrapped project and really is just overlocked together like something super cheap from wish (I swear the fabric was an expensive lining fabric I got cause it was breathable but put together like this feels super cheap)

And the blouse (which I'm not actually done with) has come from Dangerfield . Which was also on mega sale got it for like 20 bucks?!

A few years back I'd have insisted I make EVRRYTHING from scratch.

Now that I'm older and wiser.... I say F**K THAT.
WHen I can get a perfectly good shirt from danger field I can comfortably call it a day.
