This batch of green tea + charcoal soap was made with brewed green tea 🍵 and infused matcha oil. Its a huge relief that the green shade came out in a nice pale color (looking like tea green colour) 🙏

Plant oils are one of the essential ingredients in a soap recipe. What makes plant oil so important then? Plant oils can be extracted from the seed, nut, fruit or bark of a plant etc. It is composed of several wonderful properties that really serve our skin well - being anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial; rich in fatty acids (triglyercides), polyphenols, antioxidants, and so on. When these components act synergistically, it can promote skin barrier homeostasis (regulating water/moisture balance within the skin layers) and utimately restore skin health. 🌺

Here's a little brief introduction - Our soaps are mainly fragrance free and unscented. It is definitely not everyone's favourite choice but it is a safer option for those with extremely sensitive skin. 🌼

What is a handmade soap? every bar is made from combining plant oils, lye and water. They go through a process called saponification and the end products are a salt (soap) + glycerol/glycerin. Normally oil and water do not mix, but with lye, this is possible and it converts the oil into a soap. This is also how soaps are made on a commercial scale. But at willowandmint, it is all small batch and customised :)

The conditioning level and amount of lather can vary depending on the type of oil and amount being used. But the important part is Glycerine - a humectant, it locks in moisture and keeps the skin hydrated. As such, every bar is created uniquely different. Just like us humans, we are all special in our own ways. 🌻

Using simple ingredients at home, you can easily make a diy lip scrub.😗
Exfoliation is great for removing dead skin and softening your lips.
Apply some on the lips and gently rub in a circular motion.
Leave it for a few minutes and then rinse off. Pat dry and moisturise with lip balm.
Optional: Add 1-2 drops of essential oil of your choice. I chose orange for a citrus scent :P

Recipe:
2 tspn white sugar
1 tspn jojoba/coconut oil
1 tspn vitamin E oil
1 tsp Honey
*essential oil of your choice
