GODLY MATURITY IN PARENTING

Although family environments are same, children are different and they decide on priorities based on their understanding.

Parents have more unity with a child who respects us, does things our way but have difficulty getting along with children who stick to other preferences.

Every parent is confused and challenged what to do in such situations. Understanding with Godly maturity, that although they are different but still are ours to love and care for, will help us and the child in a huge way.

Can we decide to shower love to all our children with Godly maturity?

A PRAYER CHALLENGE

Prayer is the first and best response when your children need discipline.

PRAYER
- develops and strengthens our relationship with God
- helps us take correct decisions
- gives us direction in life
- helps to avoid temptations

Would you adopt a school or university and pray together with children?

They will be encouraged to pray, that will teach them God knows their issues and has a plan to redeem them and make them successful.

YOUR STRENGTH MAYBE YOUR SPOUSE'S WEAKNESS

Our spouse's strengths, skills and abilities, enriches and helps us to be a better individual. We feel great !!

However, our spouse's weakness annoys us as that maybe an area of our strength. Sometimes this leads to arguments and fights. We may feel our spouse is not dependable or we cannot trust them.

God may provide a spouse having exactly opposite qualities and talents. Haven't you heard opposites attract? Have you considered the idea that your spouse’s strengths and their weaknesses are uniquely designed for you?

Ephesians 5 wants "a husband is to sacrificially love his wife and a wife is to sacrificially respect her husband".

Today, can we allow God to work in our hearts so we grow and mature into our respective roles?

RESURRECTION GIVES US POWER

1 Corinthians 15

If Christ is not risen then
- our preaching is useless
- our faith is futile
- we are still in our sins

Christ died for our sins, was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, seen by Cephas & the twelve and by over 500 brothers & sisters.

If the Cross provides
- forgiveness of sins
- purging of shame
- healing of sickness
- deliverance of bondages

Then Resurrection provides
- power to overcome
- promise of new beginning
- great grace
- a living hope
- an eternal life

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

HEAL OFFENSES BEFORE 2024
(Mental Health is Important)

Being disrespectful, emotional outbursts or physical abuse, manipulation, neglect, betrayal of trust and doing anything that makes your spouse feel bad about themselves, results in profound effects on their mental well-being and sense of self worth.

When this continues, it results in unhealed emotional or psychological issues, traumatic relationships, broken marriages and conflicts in families. Experiencing such negative emotions leads them to take offense.

IF YOU ARE ALLOWING OFFENSE TO HAPPEN, by punishing your spouse or family member because of their actions against you or because of your perception about them, please note Jesus takes it very seriously - study Matthew 18:6, Mark 9:42, Luke 17:1-4, Matthew 24:10.

IF YOU HAVE TAKEN OFFENSE, trust in the Lord with all your heart and receive His healing touch today.

Praying for everyone who has been a victim and contributor of offenses. Before we move on to 2024, we encourage you to focus on resolving the issue prayerfully & peacefully.

IMPERFECTIONS OR STRENGTHS
Today by God's grace, we complete 23yrs of marriage.

If I focus on Anitha's imperfections, then I am never going to be happy. There are times she says things which clearly upsets me and I say things which upsets her.

But I like to focus on her amazing strengths which brings a smile to me. To do that, I need to feel how fortunate I am to have her through the power of God in my life.

2 Corinthians 12:9b
"Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ power may rest on me"

In our imperfections and weaknesses, we can find strength and sufficiency through God who is "perfect". He works through us, demonstrating His power and transforming our shortcomings into vessels of his glory.

THANK YOU LORD

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thess. 5:18

When I cry out, You hear me
When I am in pain, You comfort me
When I am in need, You provide for me

Help me to continue to obey you with humility and thankful acceptance.

Psalms 127:3, is says “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward” This means that God is the Giver, and we who are parents are the receivers.

Becoming parents is a God given opportunity but we need to parent responsibly to bring them up in this modern world.

Dear Parents,

Your keenness to equip your child to handle his / her life is understandable. We know your desire is for your child to flourish.

As your children grow with you at home, you have precious little time with them under your roof to impart the wisdom needed to face this modern world on their own - how to manage finances, stay alert to world issues, and make sound decisions.

"Parenting in the Modern World" is a series we are teaching nowadays and we love to share with parents, churches and leaders everywhere.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANITHA !
Today 28th of Oct, we celebrate God's faithfulness in Anitha's life and are so grateful for this precious and special person in our lives.

She is an embodiment of love, strength, generosity, discipline, fun, passion, integrity and most importantly her love for the Lord !!

It's more than 25yrs that I have had the privilege of knowing her, though it is going to be 23yrs of our marriage. She is one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Our friendship bloomed fast to make us life partners and parents of two amazing children - Esther & Joseph.

I thank God today because very few people in this world are able to fall in love, get married with blessings of parents, raise two wonderful children and "called by God to serve together in a Marriage and Family ministry along with children" after having their own challenges.

“'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '” — Jeremiah 29:11

Thank you Lord for your plans for our lives. Humbled & Blessed 🙏

DISCONTENTMENT LEADS TO TEMPTATION
The Bible teaches us in 1 Timothy 6:6 that "godliness with contentment is great gain".

In Genesis 3:1, we see the cunning serpent addressing a need of Eve. She was not content and satisfied in the Garden of Eden, although God provided them everything they will need.

a) Satan tempted her capitalizing on her insufficiency*
b) Satan confused her causing doubt on God's intention* (Genesis 3:4)
c) Satan changed her view through Satan's word against God's Word* (Genesis 3:5)

As children of God, we need to do TWO things
1) Be CONTENT in our spouses, our family, our physical & mental needs and wants. We don't have to go in search for something God does not want us to have.

2) Be GUARDED against temptation as the evil one can make the forbidden look desirable by making us doubt on God's intentions for us. Discern the indirect approach of the enemy.

Dear Lord,

Help us today to be content with your loving provision, lead us not into temptation and deliver us from all evil.

NO GADGET FAMILY TIME

This morning we went out as a family to have a breakfast meal together. We had a great time talking various topics we loved to discuss, keeping all our mails, messages and calls aside just to give undivided attention to our family.

It was a time out from the routine that added more bonding with our children. Feel like wanting to do it again !!

ROLE OF WISDOM IN MARRIAGE
I believe I would have not made silly mistakes earlier on in my marriage, if I had sought godly wisdom.

a) Wisdom allows us to make better contributions to our family and community by balancing our needs.

b) Wisdom makes us understand our boundaries and keep ourselves from hurting our spouses

How do we get this wisdom? God is the source of all wisdom

Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

May the Lord give you wisdom to be a blessing in your marriage and family life !! Ask Him today !! 🥰🙏

WISE PARENTING

Becoming a parent is life's greatest blessing and being a parent gives us an opportunity to raise Godly children.

Many parents are worried and concerned about their children as there is quarreling and constant conflicts at home. In the midst of this, they wonder how can they fulfill their role as a parent.

Phillipians 4:6-7 says "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus".

We need God's wisdom to effectively parent our children. Keeping anxiety away, can we submit our thoughts to the Lord? He will surely guide and lead us forward.

LEARNING ABOUT MARRIAGE

Marriage is more important than the wedding for which today couples invest time and spend lots of money.

Wedding has its importance and needs to be done well but it gets over within a few hours giving you some memories, photographs, videos and time with friends and family.

But your marriage lasts for a life time. Hence good investment is required to learn about marriage, especially how you communicate and conduct your life, so you do not make mistakes many others have made.

Staying married is a lot harder than getting married. So spending money on staying married will help you in the long run. Invest in good premarital courses, speak to marriage coaches who can guide you and help build your marriage.
