Mom always taught me to put makeup on in natural light. When I saw my client’s primary bath vanity (hers) before, with the makeup vanity area on the left, I knew moving it closer to the windows was a must (insert the sounds of chairs sliding to natural light). And hello black walnut…I mean, right?!

There’s a reason designers don’t post pictures of toilets. But (pun intended) this primary bath water closet was the perfect space to bring outdoor inspiration in. (see my last three posts for additional views of this bath sanctuary!) The wallpaper selection has the sweetest hummingbirds flying free, like in my client’s outdoor space when in season. Why not bring some joy to a space that’s usually all business, right?

Powder rooms should have some pizazz, but so can the hall leading into it! These masks were collected by my client during her travels and it’s the perfect space to show them off. There’s even a little hanging mask made of real — wait for it — dung on the back of the powder room door to give guests a little something to wonder (and have a chuckle) about!

It’s going to be a sweltering next few days on the east coast so have a seat somewhere cool and enjoy the dolce far niente (sweetness of doing nothing)!

Landing hall fun facts: the farm in the painting was where my client grew up, the reupholstered family rocking chair now has a special spot and the millwork was added to add detail while staying true to the age of the home.

Can you believe this room was a very deep shade of red and filled with clothing racks and boxes? Swipe to see. Now my client’s beautiful portrait of her mom has a bright yet cozy view of this refreshing guest bedroom.

One positive to these steamy temps we’ve been having is the cooking and baking I’ve been getting back into. It’s fun to reconnect with things that bring you joy (especially if they include nut butters and chocolate)!

When a room has French doors and a balcony, it gives me Rapunzel vibes. So we took it from dark and drab to light and eclectic by adding a fabulous papered focal wall, modern lamps and custom bedding. The reuse of my client’s vintage brass bed, side table, trunk and rug also adds to the cozy, curated ensemble. Let down your hair ✨

Whenever a client has stellar rugs, I use them. Many of the vintage rugs from this project were moved around to make more sense with the new designs, but they played a huge part in each room’s color inspiration. Another fun fact about this room — the art above the mantle was previously hung vertically with a silver frame that didn’t compliment the piece so we flipped and reframed to give it the moment it deserved. With the piano now in it’s ideal location for sound clarity and appropriately scaled bespoke furnishings, this living room is ready for gathering. Swipe to see where we started and pick up your copy of to hear more about this project’s history!

A few posts ago (someday I’ll get better at posting consistently…maybe 😉) I shared an angle of the cozy ‘garage suite’ bedroom that houses this bathroom. We had ample closet and built-in wardrobe storage in the bedroom, and really needed more real estate in this bathroom, so we took one of the closets to expand the shower’s footprint. This also allowed us to move the commode away from the radiator under the window (across from vanity). My client’s antique mirror was the design inspiration for the space and I layered the tones and textures from there with iron and brass lighting, Calacatta gold marble tiles and a richly stained wood vanity. Fresh and warmly curated was the vision. Swipe for a ‘before’ angle!

Exhale. We were able to let out just enough today and are hoping for a solid nights sleep. is all about milestones. Today, one of our embryos reached the full blastocyst stage and was successfully frozen with the others still progressing. And while my stomach is still bloated and tender, the tears of joy and relief we shed will wash it away soon enough. Here’s to a peaceful evening, counting all the .

The mighty powder room. It’s a space in your home where you can get to the root of your definition of fun. The hallway walls leading into this powder room are adorned in tribal masks my client collected on her travels (more to come on that soon). Exploring wallpapers that evoked the emotions felt when looking at the masks just made sense to me. The pattern and colors also had to work with the original tile floor (small, grey multi-toned hexagons). To up the pretty factor, we added dado moldings which required math, lots of math… Adding a roman shade to match the paper pattern and repeat was a way to keep it timeless, and you know how I love continuity!

While I don’t have an exact ‘before’ angle of this view, the next image gives you an idea of where we started. This bedroom suite sits above the garage with a separate entrance and staircase. I fell in love with this space the moment I saw it — the natural light, the charm lying just beneath the surface wanting to emerge… It’s a long room with lower ceilings so adding a focal wall of millwork to draw the eye up was just the ticket. Moving the refinished family bed to sit on that new focal wall also gave the room a sense of purpose. I’ll be sharing more views of this space in the coming weeks, along with the renovated en suite bathroom (where we removed an extra closet to make the shower larger)!

Here’s to your comings and goings. Whether you have a front door you use on the regular or another, it’s always a good idea to have a place to drop your keys, check out your pretty face or drop your horse saddle 😉

You know that ‘hitting a wall’ feeling? That’s exactly how I felt about the wall that closed off the living and dining space at (swipe to see the before). So we opened it up to encourage the organic flow that feels like it’s been there forever.

There’s something about these ‘in between’ spaces in homes that steal my heart. Call it a dressing room, sitting room, whatever you please — this cozy and collected space sits off the primary bedroom and is perfect for those relaxing moments.
