One goal of our YES Club is to expose young budding entrepreneurs to people and technology that can help develop entrepreneurial capacities. Here, Abigail takes a turn, under the instruction of Jay Thiessens, at operating a press, which Jay uses to build a key part for the Grappler (the only pick up tool produced in the U.S.).

Product improvement is an ongoing pursuit. After consulting with Jordan Needham, Abigail and Katie are experimenting here with different natural food coloring mediums for coloring the marionette sticks that Abigail uses in producing her puppets.

Thank you Jordan Needham for another great YES Club meeting, and welcome David, Katie, and Ketan. Jordan illustrated how Illustrator can be used to transform a 2D logo picture file into a scalable vector graphic file that can then be laser cut. If you know a young person who could benefit from or enjoy learning things like this, please share this with them. Tuesdays 6pm. A good time.

This last Youth Entrepreneur Syndicate Club (YES Club) meeting was held at the Pruitt Home and workshop, where Abigail Pruitt makes her puppets. Jay Thiessans, who built a significant metal fabrication business, was a guest, and Jay provided significant insights to Abigail and our other young people about how to manage a manufacturing process. Abigail’s parents, Janice and Dallas, provided a wonderful dinner for all of us, and we were fortunate to be able to celebrate Abigail’s 13th Birthday!

This week at you YES Club meeting, Jordan Needham introduced our young entrepreneurs to digital tools you can use to take a simple logo and turn it into a "scene" like the one shown in this picture. Specifically, for you techies, our youth learned you can use "Illustrator" or a similar tool to convert a jpeg picture file into an .svg file (scalable vector graphic). You can then "extrude" the svg image into 3 dimensions in "tinkercad" and save the result as an stL file. You can then use "blender" to create a "scene" like that showin in the picture here, which is saved as a jpeg. Blender includes physics software that automatically casts effective shadows depending upon where you the designer put a light in the scene using the blender software. If you know a young person who might have interest in developing these kinds of skills, tell them to check out our YES Club.

Our Yes Club meeting this coming Tuesday will focus on how custom software might be developed to give a business a competitive advantage.

The Yes Club seeks to develop the entrepreneurial capacities and character of youth, so please come join us at the UNR Innevation Center (450 Sinclair St, Reno) from 6:00-7:30PM (Tuesday Oct 10) if this is of interest. There is currently no fee, so come check it out.

One guest is Vasily Kamyshanov, who owns and manages vdigitalsolutions.

We will also have two UNR students as guests: Tristen Houston and Troy Keeney.

Tristen and Troy will present their business idea for a property management business, and they will present their ideas for a software app that will allow them to better serve landlords and tenants. Vasily, our young entrepreneurs, and the adults present can ask questions of Tristen and Troy, in a Sharktank like format. We all will learn from Vasily's experience as he uses the business idea of Tristen and Troy to discuss how he thinks about software development within the context of supporting a business.

Should be an awesome time. You should join us.
