The Law of the Rubber Band: A Reflection on Growth and Potential

This morning at 6AM EAT, I had the honor of speaking to a group of inspiring women about the Law of the Rubber Band from John C. Maxwell's *15 Invaluable Laws of Growth*.

The essence of our discussion was simple yet profound: "Growth stops when you lose the tension between where you are and where you could be." Just as a rubber band is only valuable when stretched, so is our potential.

If you haven't been stretched for a while, you might find yourself becoming ineffective, and unable to fulfill your purpose.

Remember, life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Rabbi Nahman said it best: "If you won’t be better tomorrow than today, then what do you need tomorrow for?"

Weekend Reflection:
1. When was the last time you stretched your potential and did something extraordinary?
2. Where in your life have you experienced significant growth and stretching?
3. What is currently challenging and stretching you?

It Was A Mistake!

Looking back on my journey as a professional in fast-paced international corporate companies, I realize a crucial aspect I neglected – reflecting and celebrating my milestones, both big and small.

Yesterday, I came across a congratulatory message from a Senior EXCO member when I won the HR Excellence Award. His words struck me: "Betty, You have made history with an impeccably important milestone. I hope you are keeping the articles and filing them carefully, at least for your children. Being our ------ champion, you have not only made us proud BUT also GMTS (Given Meaning To Self). You are indeed a true champion of HR Excellence both at our local corporate level and at the national level. This is a HUGE statement you have made. Well done. Forcer !!!!!"

The famous Chinese proverb, "To know the road ahead, ask those coming back," rings true in this situation. Now that I understand the value of reflection, I am committed to doing better. I now help others integrate their calling into their careers and celebrate their achievements, both small and significant, as they continuously strive for excellence both in their personal and professional lives.

This week so far, I'm celebrating a personal win – two new members have signed up for the Momentum Mentorship program. Through this initiative, I assist professionals in kickstarting their growth and development journey, aligning their calling with their careers, and elevating their influence, impact, and income.
