and Harvard Offer Educational Opportunities to Underprivileged Students in the MEASA Region.

Dubai International Financial Centre, the Harvard University South Asia Institute (SAI) and the Harvard Business School Club of the GCC have collaborated to offer a five-day intensive course for 50 underprivileged students, under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of DIFC.

“In keeping with the UAE government agenda, DIFC is committed to developing the pool of talented and passionate professionals which our economy needs for long-term growth. Opportunities like the Harvard Crossroads Summer Program open up new pathways for young people and support robust higher education, both of central importance for achieving our goal of human capital development” said Alya Al Zarouni, Senior Vice President of Operations, DIFC Authority.

On the 4th and last day, the students visited the Dubai Future Foundation headquarters, where the Dubai Future Accelerators team gave them a review of their recent yet rapidly successful history, and also an insight into their collaboration with Dubai Cares in order to assist with the refugee crisis.

They conducted a question answer session with the students shortly before Moideen Thumbay, Founder of the Thumbay Group, gave the final mentor talk to the students.

The students were then awarded with their certificates for completing the Harvard Crossroads Summer Program and took group photographs to commemorate the achievement.

After the celebration, the students headed to the Dubai Expo 2020 site, to gain a deeper understanding of the exemplary and ambitious plans Dubai has for the next three years leading up to the Expo, the six months of the Expo, and the legacy that they will build upon after the Expo is over.

On day 3, Professor Karim Lakhani taught his last class, "Building a Data Science Capability: Aspiring Minds"

Mentor talks were given to the students by Ronaldo Mauchawar, CEO of Souq.com,
and Arif Amiri, CEO of Dubai International Financial Center, the host of all our classes.

The crossroads class then went out to take pictures in front of the iconic DIFC Building, and then returned to the classroom to be given their final lecture, by Professor Kristin Fabbe, who discussed Bhutan's Gross National Happiness, or GNH!

The crossroads class then were taken to Sharjah International Airport, and were given presentations by Air Arabia, and given tours of their hangar, where their plans remain on standby when not in flight.

Air Arabia also took the students to their hotel, Centro Rotana, Sharjah, where the students were treated to dinner.
