Muscle memory is real and a crazy, amazing thing. I was talking to the hubs the other day about how I feel so much stronger now than I did before I got pregnant. I told him how weird that is because 1. I was in such great shape and 2. At 32 weeks pregz I had to stop doing any type of exercise aside from walking (breech baby and I needed her to flip). I really didn’t do much working out for almost 16 weeks😳 Even then it probably wasn’t until 22ish weeks when I really got back to it and was able to average 3-4 workouts per week. And now I’m chasing some of the regular dudes down in spin AND beating them💪🏼⁣⁣

I thought it would take me forever to get my strength back. I’m just so in awe over how amazing our bodies are. Mamas go through this wild ride growing these little babes but seem to come out even stronger than before - both physically and mentally. It’s extremely empowering and now I can’t help but feel unstoppable👊🏼✨⁣⁣

While I didn’t go 100% natural, I’m still completely happy with our decisions and the outcome. It was a mentally challenging week. I did what was best for us because all that really mattered was getting this little babe out safely and keeping mama safe too.⁣⁣

We’re getting so close to Baby L’s arrival (!!!) so I’m doing what I can to make the process as smooth as possible. I’ve been doing my best to maintain a daily routine of dates and red raspberry leaf tea. Read on to learn why!⁣⁣

Why red raspberry leaf tea and when to start?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
May reduce morning sickness⁣⁣
Improves effectiveness of contractions⁣⁣
Uterine strength⁣⁣
Improves strength of amniotic sac⁣⁣
Reduced pain during labor and after birth⁣⁣
Labor may be shorter and less painful⁣⁣
Helps balance postpartum hormones⁣⁣
High mineral count helps bring in breastmilk for many women⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It is best not to start this until closer to your 3rd trimester as it stimulates the pelvic floor and can potentially threaten early labor. ALWAYS talk to your doc before trying something new. You can increase this to 2 cups per day (with doctor’s approval) so long as you are not experiencing any uterine cramping. I started with a cup a day around 33 weeks and have been just fine but I don’t know that I will increase it until much closer to baby girl’s due date. is a great resource for more information on this!⁣⁣

Why dates and when to start?⁣⁣

3 different studies done, show that you are:⁣⁣
74% more dilated than non-date eaters at admission to birthplace⁣⁣
38% more likely to have intact membranes⁣⁣
21% more likely to spontaneously go into labor (yay for no induction!)⁣⁣
28% less like to use Pitocin to induce labor (yay for no drugs!)⁣⁣
77% shorter first stage of labor⁣⁣
43% lower rates of c-section⁣⁣
51% lower rates of vacuum/forceps “Date fruit has an oxytocin-like effect on the body, leading to increased sensitivity of the uterus. Dates may also help stimulate uterine contractions and reduce postpartum hemorrhage the way oxytocin does.” -⁣⁣

By 36-37 weeks, you should be eating 3 medjool dates per day. I’ve been eating about 1-2 a day since week 33 and will increase that once we get to 36 weeks.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So will it work? I can’t answer that but it’s definitely something I am willing to try. Anything to help the discomfort of a natural labor😊

Buddha bowls and soups are one of my fave ways to load up on all the veggies.⁣

This soup was so easy to make and gave us lots of leftovers🤤⁣

Just chop up all your veggies starting with the more dense and throw them into your broth as you go. Let it simmer until all veggies are nice and tender. Top with cilantro and avocado and whatever else your little heart desires.

What is your favorite superfood?⁣⁣

I don’t think I can pick just one. We have a few favorites that we use daily in our smoothie. Well, at least JorBabe still does. I’ve had to cut most out because 🤰🏼⁣⁣

So which ones do we use on the reg?⁣⁣

CACAO (chocolate in its purest form) // aids in improving elasticity of blood vessels, helps reduce high fat diet obesity, helps lower LDL and glucose levels, improves insulin resistance and glucose metabolism, high in antioxidants, minerals and magnesium, boosts brain function, promotes heart health, and eases PMS. This I’ve been taking the entire pregnancy. It’s just too dang good.⁣⁣

MACA // promotes homeostasis, reduces anxiety and depression, helps with mood swings, increases bone density/strength, boosts immune system and increase stamina and drive in the bedroom. The Peruvians consume this through pregnancy with no issues but from what I researched, there just isn’t enough out there to rule it as completely safe for the developing baby. However, now that I am in my 2nd tri, I’ve started having a little every now and then😉⁣⁣

SPIRULINA // reduces inflammation, detoxes heavy metals, lowers blood pressure, improves immune response, boosts energy, promotes good intestinal flora, regulates blood sugar, balances cholesterol levels and has one of the highest protein to weight ratios – over 60% complete protein which is 3x that found in beef! And sadly, another one that I have had to cut back on for the most part.⁣⁣

CHLORELLA // this is great for detoxing the blood/body, boosts tissue growth and repair, reduces carcinogenic activity and is full of minerals, amino acids, phytonutrients, and fatty acids. Because of its detoxing capabilities, it makes it questionable for the preggos.⁣

Today we took an active rest day and headed to the park for some playtime and fresh air. We also brought along our new fave snacks because we are OBSESSED!⁣⁣

Popsicles that are actually good for you?!⁣

I don’t remember exact measurements for this but we used frozen banana, frozen mixed berries, coconut milk (can sub for coconut water here), h**p seeds and chia seeds. Blend it all up, pour into your popsicle molds and put into the freezer for a few hours.⁣

These are so perfect for when you’re craving a little sweet treat🍭 and you can also add some nut butter like I did here✨

Especially when it’s guilt free.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Blueb muffins:⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 1/3 cups almond flour⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
2 scoops collagen peptides⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 TBSP coconut flour⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1/2 TSP aluminum free baking powder⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1/8 TSP sea salt⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 TBSP coconut sugar⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 1/2 cups wild blueberries⁣⁣
2 eggs⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1/3 cup melted coconut oil⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 TSP apple cider vinegar⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
1 TSP vanilla⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
Unsweetened almond milk (enough to loosen up the batter slightly)⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⏩⏩ mix everything together so it is well blended. Spray your muffin tins with avocado oil and pour the mix in. Bake at 350* for about 20-25 min or until toothpick comes out clean⁣⁣⁣⁣

I topped mine with some raw, local honey bc allergies, ya know😉? Also, they aren’t super sweet so you might want to add some honey.⁣⁣

Anyone else run out the door in the morning with their breakfast in their hand?⁣⁣

I’m totally guilty of that. However, I always make a point to slow down once I jump into the car and take my time eating whatever it is I have. It takes me anywhere from 50-60 min to get to work and I usually take that time to enjoy my breakfast.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Why is this important? Becauseeee when we eat in a hurry or stressed out state, our bodies don’t burn efficiently. We are in that fight or flight mode and our bodies hold on to every single calorie and store it for later causing us to gain weight.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When is the last time you thought about how fast you eat? Next time you sit down for a meal, time yourself. And I challenge you to take at least 20 min to finish that meal. Set your fork down in between bites. Remember to breath. It’s so so important to slow down and enjoy every little bite. AND it’ll also prevent you from overeating! You’ll notice when you get to 80% fullness and know when it’s time to call it quits. ⁣

Food deets: organic brown rice cracker, organic PB (with nothing but peanuts in thur), banana and cinnamon🤤
