The Holiday Surprise Show at Hansen Dam is coming up NEXT WEEKEND! Show your support for the chapter by joining us to see some dressage, have some holiday cheer, see the 2023 awards presentation, shop our vendor village and get your pictures with Santa!

Activities for the weekend:

- Wine and cheese vendor walk Saturday at 11:30am - 1pm

Amy Wright, our winner of the drawing, shared her experience at the CDS AA Clinic:

The south AA clinic with Melissa Creswick was a huge success. My favorite takeaway from this clinic was Melissa’s approach to always going into the ring with a neutral mindset. No matter what your last ride looked like or how your day has been going, any new ride is a chance for new growth and opportunity. Other key points were to ride your horse from the back to front and always asking your horse with your legs first for anything.

Melissa did a great job in explaining the use of half halts. She demonstrated how half halts should be done when the mane is ‘up’. I also loved the idea of using your belly wall, meaning pushing your belly ‘out’ to the wall. In doing this, you soften your seat and allow your hips to be loose.

For my horse in particular we are working on the basics in training level. He has a more difficult time with lateral work, due to his confirmation and lack of previous training. Melissa’s largest help was to always be thinking about his hind end engagement and to consistently be thinking about ‘pushing’ his hind out in our circles.
It was a weekend full of talented women and horses and I left feeling more excitement for this sport and love of Dressage. I truly appreciate CDS and the LA Chapter for providing this opportunity.

LA Chapter Adult Amateurs!

The CDS Annual AA Amateur Clinic will be June 2-4 2023, at Hi Hopes Farm in Chino Hills, California. MELISSA CRESWICK will be the clinician. LA Chapter is happy to sponsor an Amateur rider to this clinic. We will pay for your lessons, and give you $100 towards other expenses.
Eligibility:
Riders must be members in good standing of CDS LA Chapter and be Amateur over 22 years of age. The rider must be able to walk/trot/canter with proper diagonals and leads equivilant to at least Training Level. The rider and the horse make up a “team” and the rider should be fit and the horse sound.
A winner will be selected via a random drawing on April 19 during the LA Chapter Board meeting! Members may enter by sending an email to the Chapter Chair Glenda McElroy at [email protected] before April 15 with your name, horses name and a short description of you riding background.

The rider must be able to walk/trot/canter with proper diagonals and leads equivalent to at least Training Level. Calling CDS LA Chapter Adult Amateurs! You have a chance to ride with Hilda Gurney at the CDS AA South Clinic, June 24 – 26, 2022, at Hinemann Farms in Murrieta, California.

LA Chapter is happy to sponsor an AA rider to this clinic. We will pay for your lessons and give $100 towards other expenses.​ Riders must be members in good standing of CDS LA Chapter and be 22 years of age or older. The rider must be able to walk/trot/canter equivalent to at least Training Level. The rider and the horse make up a “team” and the rider should be fit for a 45-minute lesson and the horse sound.
