We were so encouraged to see the reach of the original post about Nice resident Thomas Darby - more than 1,500 people - but so far no one has contacted Thomas related to his pressing needs (maintenance on his RV so he can move it to a cheaper RV park; fixing his hot water heater). He has been in constant contact and today sent this heartbreaking email:

"I'm afraid I'm at the point of just giving up. Half the time I'm in so much pain I can't get to doctor appointments. I have to bird bath, because I have no shower or hot water, and it isn't easy. Laundry needs to be done, but just doing that takes a lot out of me physically... Money helps, but I'd really prefer having someone who can help me fix things in the RV, maybe help with laundry. A replacement hot water heater is out of my budget. I really am trying to hold it together, but it's difficult."

If you or anyone you know can provide Thomas any kind of relief - such as doing some laundry or letting him take a shower at your house - please don't hesitate! A small amount of human kindness can go a very long way.

The Celebration of Life for Coach Gordon Sadler will be held on Saturday, December 5th at the Dr. William Cornelison Event Center (Oak Hill Middle School) from 1PM until 4PM. Additional parking is available at Yuba College. Please bring a side dish to share if you would like. Beer and BS will be held after the celebration of life at a place of your choosing.

Longtime Lower Lake High School football coach and athletic director Gordon Sadler, for whom the school's football field is named after, died earlier this morning while visiting family in Iowa. He was 77.
