Yesterday we started a Bible study on the book of Philippians . This book in the New Testament was written by Paul. Paul used to be known as Saul, the merciless Pharisee who was responsible for killing countless Christians. But after Jesus got ahold of him on the road to Damascus, he was the Lord's most dedicated spokesman and brought so many people to Christ. This is proof anyone can change with Jesus!

On Paul's second missionary journey, he stopped in Philippi to preach about Jesus. The Word took root, and many people believed on Jesus. Anytime the Word of God us fruitful, however, you can guarantee that the devil isn't far behind. Paul was run out of Philippi by people who didn't appreciate what God's people were doing. Afterwards, he was run out of numerous other towns for preaching the gospel, was the target of an assassination plot, was shipwrecked, was almost killed by an angry mob, and was arrested and imprisoned. In jail is where Paul writes his letter to the Philippians, a book of joy and encouragement.

That just goes to show that we can rise above our struggles and circumstances and still have the real joy that only Jesus Christ can bring. Trust in Jesus!
