U-VOL Foundation is a proud partner of The Okra Network, helping to support the successful launch of the Amani Pilot Project this past weekend in a rural community within Western Uganda that equipped over 30 rural women with menstrual hygiene education + the knowledge and use of reusable menstrual cups. We'd also like to thank project implementation partnerns on ground, The Change Society Needs, and others that played an integral part of making this a great pilot a huge success.
Join us LIVE here on Facebook this Saturday, Dec. 9th at 10am EST with The Okra Network as we discuss menstrual health in resource restricted settings, share insights from the Amani Project and explore probable solutions moving forward.

This is a recent photo taken from a Maternity Ward in one of the hospitals in North Central Nigeria that is being supported through U-VOL Foundation's ValueHer Initiative.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, yet are we truly listening?
The majority of the hospitals and clinics in low resource settings not only suffer from a scarcity of qualified care professionals, but have an alarming shortage of medical equipment and surgical supplies needed to save lives and properly treat patients. Many healthcare providers in these regions do without critical devices such as oxygen, basic physiological monitors, functional beds or basic imaging, while other providers do their best to function with outdated medical equipment. A lack of adequate equipment contributes to preventable maternity deaths.
Enough is enough. Every woman, in every community has value. It's time we do better. It's time we ValueHer.
Help us advocate for women globally & increase access to basic life-saving medical equipment by supporting U-VOL's ValueHer Campaign.

Investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals is important. Short term relief missions should never ignore the local workforce. Our medical mission volunteers are often comprised of nursing, pharmacy, and other allied health students from within the local community. U-VOLโs team of healthcare professions help provide, not only hands on learning experiences for these students, but aim to empower them with knowledge, clinical skills, communication skills and peer-to-peer mentoring to help increase the capacity of the local healthcare workforce of tomorrow.

This is "Sarah". She is in her 80s. She's strong willed, hopeful, full of life, and determined to get the ongoing care she needs to continue to live a fufilled life and to spend ample time with her grandchildren. Her main concern is not having continued support to obtain the life saving cardiovascular medication she needs without interruption.
"I traveled a far distance to be here with the help of my walking stick. At my age, these clinics are my only opportunity to get basic healthcare and my medicine, so I come. I can't really rely on anyone else now. I really need help. Thank you for remembering me."
We need your help.
With your support U-VOL helps to fill the rising gap in much needed primary healthcare services for ALL AGES, including the elderly--like Sarah, in underserved and low resource settings.
Will you help us be a part of the solution?
For as little as supporting with $5/month, you can be a lifeline to Sarah and other older women like her suffering from chronic conditions.
It's time to value her๐๐.

U-VOL is proud to partner with The Okra Network, helping to sponsor their Project AMANI in western Uganda with a donation of 1,000 menstrual hygiene cups and ongoing program support.
A menstrual cup is a safe and healthy method of menstrual management which has the ability to change a young womanโs life. The cups are made of surgical grade silicone and can be reused for up to ten years. They are inserted into the va**na to collect, rather than absorb, menstrual fluid. A cup can be worn for up to 12 hours, after which it is simply removed, emptied, cleaned and re-inserted!
Project AMANI, meaning "strength" in a literal sense, stands as a beacon of resilience for women and teenage mothers throughout their menstrual journey. By fostering not only their strength but also the collective strength of families, this initiative envisions enhanced menstrual health, improved nutrition, and safer water practices.
