Was doing some PD on the morning drive today, listening to a podcast featuring . Ahhhhmazing stuff. If only I could write and drive safely. So much good stuff. I will definitely be checking out her book “Emotional Agility”.

We all want to make data-driven decisions, because data is evidence (hopefully good evidence). We watch our financial investments, and when the market is up or down, we buy, sell or hold based on data.

Gas prices drop? We fill our tanks.

Weather forecast is s**t? We plan around it.

These are very basic examples of data-driven decisions we make every day.

So if we experience an emotion or feeling, why do we often ignore, or suppress that data source? We (including me) aren’t doing ourselves any favours when we discount this important data.

I woke up to a text from a good friend this morning . Cheryl and I have done a handful of trail runs together, and we’ve been watching each other kick ass in our virtual fitness groups.

She asked me if I’d want to do team ultra-marathon in BC this summer. She sent a link and asked me to think about it.

I didn’t even look at the link.

But what i did do was what I learned from .

5-4-3-2-1: I was either going to say yes and start focusing on training, or say no and move on.

Workout 1 in the bag. It was a snowy and hilly 10km. Sooooo fun.

Got passed the early morning migraine.

This is literally what I see right now.

I get migraines. They are triggered by reflecting light. Like the light reflecting off the kitchen sink faucet. 🤢🤬

My worst symptoms are visual auras, limited vision, and usually loss of vision in my left eye.
-
The pain is usually tolerable, and comes after the auras are gone.

Not a great way to start a day.

I do 160km/day now. By choice of course.

My Hyundai Santa Fe makes the daily trip really enjoyable. Quiet. Safe. Lots of power when you need it. Super comfortable.
