guess it’s my turn to recap 2023 😌 this year has been full of the usual ups and downs but man was this one stuffed full of life lessons. and as it goes with life lessons, they’re valuable but exhausting when you’re in the process of acquiring them. i made lots of decisions that seemed scary but have made a lot of sense too.
let’s see. worked a lot. got a facial treatment from a clinic that left me with scars on my face in January.
went to Fuerteventura for señor’s birthday. had my own birthday, 32 years young. realised i don’t want to throw parties anymore to celebrate, i’d rather be off in the mountains or on the beach with my friends and loved ones.
had a dreadful experience at All Those. my mum came to visit. wore a lot of outfits i liked. it was hot as balls again this summer, sweated all the way through it in a stuffy kitchen. went to the UK twice (saw the arctic monkeys!!!). bought a car and then spain got in the way of me driving it up to this day. cooked my first yoga retreat.
my other side of my family came to visit for the first time and i got to show them where i live and where i work. more importantly i could lean on them for a few days as i had driven myself to exhaustion. and then it was december again and i had a brilliant christmas back home.
bring it on 2024. i am ready for you, but know that i’ll be taking it nice and slow this year. i even made some resolutions! i’ve kept them simple and they’re all things i actually want to do.

i LOVE my tiny little country 🫶🥺
today we cooked for ‘s christmas lunch 🎄 and had a right blast.
on the festive menu: festive filled puff pastry treats, mains not pictured were shepherd’s pie and bourguignon, and for dessert a sponge cake with homemade jam filling and a buttercream frosting with chai cinnamon and dark chocolate. my friend mr samson and i were matching of course. and no he did not get any chocolate today.
as always couldn’t have done it without 🫶
off to sleep now!
midway through the second to last week of lunch deliveries. nearly the end of 2023. i’m pretty sure i look pretty tired. i feel pretty tired but also pretty content. i have been lucky as anything to have spent the last 2.5 years learning and growing (did anyone ever tell you growing is painful?). what an adventure it’s been and i’m sure it will continue to be!

in the new year, you’ll be able to exclusively get amberitas at Casa TAOS and another few select locations.
we’re changing course and focusing attention in the new year on events, retreats, and all kinds of caterings. that means you can get amberita’s to cater your event too! please feel free to reach out for any kind of inquiries 🫶
it’s been quite the 2.5 years. i will be sharing more info on where Amberitas is going in 2024, for now, there’s another week or two left to order your lunch ❤️

little recap of the last week because i am enjoying this autumn so much 🥺 this summer/post summer i’ve had a really hard time, just a lot of different things going on at the same time, and although i still have a lot of work to do to work through the stress that my body is retaining, i can feel myself slowly getting better. the simple practices of meditation and journaling are literal lifesavers. when you feel like you have least have time for them, you need them the most. anyways, i hope you’re having a lush weekend.

💚 WOMEN AT WORK 💘
i’m so grateful to be able to work with the ser de luz that is
one thing that held me back from getting into the culinary world when i was younger was the culture of kitchens. the machismo, the terrible communication (yelling and screaming), the normalised abuse. i’m lucky to have managed to get into the culinary industry on my own terms. one of our visions for our work together is to change the way we work in the kitchen. we never yell, we always communicate clearly, we respect each other. and to be honest, it’s very easy.
what’s not easy is the way we’re perceived as women in food. we’ve been belittled, we’ve been yelled at, we’ve been catcalled, we’ve been given a lot of side eye. the (mostly) men who’ve got many more years in this industry under their belts do not seem to take it lightly that two young women have decided to not participate in the culture of abuse that they had to experience.
not even a week ago we were ridiculed for being who we are. ridiculed for having studied at a culinary institution. but we won’t let it get us down, in fact it’s proof that we’re on the right path. i look forward to having a big team of people who respect each other, who communicate with each other, and who can see a new way for the culinary industry.

if there’s a cuisine i should give credit to and thanks to for inspiring me every day it’s the asian cuisine. i realise that that’s a BIG ass umbrella for all the different cuisines you find in asia. i am always inspired by the gorgeous flavours and fragrant spices and possibilities they offer. so big thanks from this white girl to all of the amazing colourful, vibrant, exciting, age old food traditions for letting me be creative 💚🌸🥬

llevo unos añitos ya alejándome de la cultura de dieta. en vez de creer que todas las comidas que hago me hacen “buena” o “mala” persona, me profundicé en la práctica de comer intuitivo (en inglés; intuitive eating).
lo que implica volver a estar en un estado de tranquilidad y de confianza en tu cuerpo. saber que tengo permiso de comer todo lo que me apetezca y así no estar dando vueltas todo el día lo del qué comer, cuándo comerlo, cuánto ya he comido, etc. desde allí con esta práctica llegarás a estar en paz tanto con la comida que con tu cuerpo. (poc a poc, claro).
por qué os comparto otra vez la práctica del intuitive eating? bueno primero porque me importa muchísimo. y os lo deseo para todas. segundo, porque hoy no me apetecía cenar nada solamente querría comerme un helado. así que me piré para la heladería vegana y me pillé este helado. después cap a casa para comerlo y ver una peli. y no tiene que ser un helado “saludable” ni “libre de azúcar” ni “sin culpas” (un término que me da bastante rabia).
pues aquí os lo dejo. tienes permitido comer lo que tu quieras. y aún más importante: da igual qué talla llevas. 💘
