My latest creation and bespoke masterpiece!

Yesterday I said goodbye to this beautiful lady and her wedding dress . The last meetings with my brides are always full of emotions and this one in particular had all the emotions as it was my last dress to have completed on UK soil.

I have been so lucky to have met so many lovely brides and family’s over the years I have been designing and making wedding dresses here in the UK and thank you all from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to make your wonderful dresses .

The next chapter now awaits and off to Australia we come ! The Sunshine and sea are calling me and hopefully some new brides aswell !!

We are relocating to Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland , Australia. For any brides getting married here, get in touch now as I will soon be there and ready to go again !

Here is a recent shot I took of a lovely new client of mine . This is her at her first toile fitting. This bespoke wedding dress will be stunning when it’s made, it will be made from a sculptural heavy crepe, underlined in Silk Georgette and feature on trend pleated short voluminous sleeves! Even though it won’t be a mini dress when completed, I actually am loving the idea of this one as a mini as well with all the mini wedding dress hype happening right now ❤️

Bespoke Bridal : Toile fitting,

For every bespoke bridal gown, I make a toile. The toile is a mock up or prototype of the real dress made in a substitute fabric. This is to perfect the fit, look at styling details, discuss fabrics etc. This dress is for one of my brides this year and will be full length and have a long train.

Introducing Ariana ❤️

Bringing glamour to the proceedings, Ariana’s beaded and pearl encrusted bustier bodice has swoon-worthy removable tulle sleeves, making it feel almost like two dresses in one. The silk bias cut skirt has the most flattering drape, finishing off this show-stopping gown.

Alora is one of the four stunning looks that make up the latest Gemma Leakey collection ‘Eventide’

My newest collection is all about sophistication with a sense of nostalgic soft romance. Shot around a desert lake in the sand and scrubland, this collection takes inspiration from the the desert sunlight and warm hazy sunsets, with the dresses exuding an evocative laid back sense of feeling and romantic movement.

Alora is made using the popular and romantic sequinned leaf lace from the Hidden Essence collection, made into a structured and fully b***d bodice, and sculpturally fitted, fit and flare stretch crepe skirt with thigh high front split and a voluminous train. Sexy and sophisticated, there are removable bell sleeves that gather at the wrist for a further touch of on-trend drama.

The first shots are in and my gosh, how beautiful does Bridget look in her Gemma Leakey bespoke wedding dress ? !!!

The exquisite photography by the talented Italian based sustainable wedding photographer Benni Carol Photography captures the romance and elegance of this magical wedding.

Bridget came to me after a struggle trying to find the perfect wedding dress in the bridal boutiques. Feeling underwhelmed not only by the quality of the fabrics she came across , but also the lack of choice in terms of a more simple and elegant sustainable wedding dress.

I knew when I met her I could meet her expectations, and designed her this unique, one of a kind wedding dress. Made from a delicate French chantilly Eco lace, with scalloped edging. Eco silk crepe Georgette and satin skirt . Finished off with beautiful covered buttons and pleated off the shoulder sleeves. Handmade to perfection from start to finish right here in my studio.

Real bride Rachel 🤩

Rachel wore a Gemma Leakey bespoke wedding dress. A custom made wedding dress, featuring a high neck, long lace sleeves and open back. Soft , flowing crepe skirt with long train.

The skirt is made from a stunning Italian eco crepe and has the most magnificent drape and lustre. A striking beaded lace makes up the top section , called Ophelia, from . It is both elegant and modern , relaxed yet opulent at the same time. Such a beautiful gown for a gorgeous bride.

Fitting the toile .

The toile is a mock up or prototype of your real wedding dress and is made in a similar fabric to your real dress. I fit the toile to the bride until everything is just perfect before cutting out the dress in the real fabric. Toiles like this one, I will use again after the bride has got married for future brides who might be looking for something similar. Nothing goes to waste in the studio.

The bespoke process is such an exciting part of having a custom made wedding dress. It is amazing to be able to see a dress being developed from a beautiful sketch and fabric swatches into a real life wedding dress.

It’s a very personable , honest experience where you can tell me exactly what you would like and how you want to feel on your wedding day. Knowing that you will be the only one to ever wear this design is a very special feeling and it’s what makes the bespoke bridal process so unique.
