Thanksgiving is a celebration of love and peace. I’m thankful to the lord above for our daily blessings. Today, we celebrated our annual Thanksgiving feast with our center participants of Precinct 1. Ricardo Molina Sr. Community Center, El Cenizo Community Center, La presa Community Center and our host E.J. Salinas Community Center. We came together as family and enjoyed a nice thanksgiving meal with dessert and some loteria fun.

Today we held La Estrella Del Deporte Scholarship Ceremony for the month of November 2023. We honored 10 student athletes from our local high schools for their exceptional athletic and academic achievements. Thank you, to my wife Janell Coe Gonzalez, president of The Giving Tree of South Texas Foundation, Gilbert Gonzalez City Council District 1/ Vice-President of The Giving Tree of South Texas Foundation, and Attorney At Law Micheal Lezcano for their inspiring words. Congratulations once more to our future leaders! Keep up the wonderful work! May God continue to bless you.

This morning we were able to give thanks to all our Veterans. Commissioner Jesse Gonzalez’s 8th Annual “Giving Thanks to those who served” Veterans Day Luncheon and Health Fair at Royal Receptions was filled with many veterans and their families. A big Thank you to our awesome supporters for the great help! Royal Receptions, PEG Energy, Laredo Job Corps, AEP, Generous Home Care., Webb County Veterans Department and over 20 agencies in attendance. We were able to thank many families of service members and veterans who help shoulder the weight of war and the burdens of sacrifice which includes fathers, spouses and children of our military men and women, THANK YOU! Your love, support and resilience are the backbone of this nation, and that must never be forgotten. God bless our past and future veterans and the United States of America.

'Be Cancer Aware' gives people the opportunity to learn about Cancer in a supportive environment. Yesterday morning, I had the privilege of hosting the 8th Annual Knock Out Breast Cancer Awareness at Slaughter Park. We started the morning with a walk, Zumba, Kangoo Jumps & Self Defense. I want to thank Zumba instructor Miriam Guerrero, Kangoo Jumps instructor Suzuki Wah, Self Defense/ Kickboxing instructor Pepito Espinoza Jr from Knockout Power Women’s Fitness , DJ Super Mario,

Today I attended the quarterly board meeting for Mercy Ministries and one of the many important topics that we discussed was the importance and dangers of the current fentanyl crises affecting our community. We need to continue to educate and raise awareness of this dangerous drug. It has taken one too many lives!
