E-bikes are here to stay. Pros are training on them for road and MTB at the highest levels of each discipline. They also are helping many finally get back to riding and changing peoples lives later in life. Stories of people dropping weight over months of use are common as well.

Only good can come from such. Below is a list of talking point to share with others. Please share.

Also be sure to follow and join COSMBA who is actively working to change existing policies for such. They also have done a ton of work creating new trails in the last year and maintaining existing ones.

ROLL is now taking nominations for a recipient of the John Elder Spirit Award. Al Brody supports the Bright Spots of Hope, a MS group from the St. Louis area. They do an annual event at Angletech. He has created an award that recognizes who John was so that others can strive towards during their life with MS.
We plan premiere this award at ROLL XX. Kay Liggett will donate the award and Allen Beauchamp will present it. We are hoping John Hurley will make the John Elder Spirit Award. Please send nominations or comments to [email protected]

At right is a John Elder in 2011 when he was a bike mechanic for Criterium Bicycles. Many years ago he was forced to quit his job and move to the family farm in Pennsylvania due to his MS. After a good fight he has finally succumbed to this debilitating disease. ROLL needs an obituary and photos. Please send your links to [email protected]

It’s amazing how much COSMBA has gotten done in its short 8 months of existence already. New trails. Tons of work days. No single trail group in town has done so much in the last 5 years much less last 8 months! Really been impressive what they’ve gotten done. Excited to see where they are 5 years from now!

Well done COSMBA!

The Palmer trail is back open!

Great news hikers! 🥾The Palmer Red Rock Trail, also known as the Section 16 Trail or the National Forest System Trail 775, is back open!

This trail, which has been closed since a significant rockslide and the destruction of a trail bridge in May of 2022, provides an essential connection between Red Rock Canyon and Bear Creek Cañon Park.

The U.S. Forest Service - PSICC National Forest performed a geotechnical assessment that determined no mitigation work would be required to reduce the risk of the rock sliding any further, and there is no greater risk than other natural hazards in the area. Hikers should be aware of fallen rock and debris and use caution when entering the area.

For years many of us have thought how great it’d be to take the cog rail up and ride down. Well now…you can.
