Meet our co-founder, Darryl! 👋
Darryl has been interested and passionate about being an entrepreneur since before he could spell the dang word (hey, it’s not so easy 🤷🏻♂️). Growing up in a family of business owners, he saw past the hard work, long hours and struggles and instead saw the possibilities, pride and passion that went into building those businesses.
After formalizing and building a strong foundation of knowledge through his studies of business at Fanshawe College, Hogeschool Zeeland and Royal Roads University, Darryl gained practical experience in project management and marketing through various roles out West.
‼️ Fun fact: the concept and idea for OneLook was born as a business plan assignment in his second year of his program at Fanshawe in 2009…way too early for the market, the idea had to wait.
After moving back to Ontario in 2017 after a desire to move home mixed with personal tragedy, the adage of “life is short” became too clear. Doing something meaningful with life and enjoying every day became the most important thing.
So with his best friend on board (who also wrote a business plan for the concept in 2011), OneLook was officially and legally born in 2018! 🎉
Darryl’s role at OneLook includes wearing many, and most, of the hats. Primarily concerned with ensuring the successful operations, marketing and growth of the business. More recently, Darryl has also flexed his creative side by getting out in the field again and capturing some of the beautiful homes we have the privilege of marketing with our clients.
With a growing team, Darryl’s role is shifting into a focus on higher level growth and business development vs. the day to day operations; since had that covered!
Outside of work, Darryl enjoys spending time with friends and family, personal development, travel and generally being lazy when possible.

All joking and straight faces aside, the month of May has traditionally been one of our busiest months and this first week into it has proven to be no different! Despite being busy, our team has maintained amazing attitudes and working together to make sure we for our wonderful clients! 🖤
In a business with many moving parts, extremely fast turnaround expectations and multiple shoots in a day, any small blip out of our “system” can ripple through with a vengeance! 😳
We are proud of our team for always rolling with the punches and doing their best to work with what they can control. And that’s mainly having a good attitude and adapting to change with grace and understanding .
Some ✨blips✨ this week included changing weather, lockbox conundrums, equipment left behind, keys locked where they shouldn’t be, long drives, ferry rides, photo editor delays, upload/internet issues, and I’m sure there’s more that I’m missing! 😝
We are also grateful for our understanding clients who know these things just happen and are often just out of anyone’s control!
