A huge shout out to Charlie Pioli and O-Town Compost (based in Orlando) for providing exceptional Organics recycling/Compostables diversion program for held Feb 6-9 in Daytona Beach, FL. As a result of O-Town’s team as well as a number of dedicated Volunteers, we successfully diverted 2,234 pounds of waste for the US Compostong Council’s 32nd Annual Comference + Tradeshow + Demo Day…which will now be turned into COMPOST 🪴 🍎 ♻️ 🙏 US Composting Council O-Town Compost

Last week here in Austin, TX (after a two year hiatus) the global compost manufacturing, compost utilization, and organics management industry reunited in person for the US Composting Council’s 30th Annual Conference and Trade Show.
Despite all the challenges, obstacles, and uncertainties leading up to last week, we persevered. I can tell you it wasn’t easy and there were times I too wanted to throw in the towel. But then as we started getting closer to the date, I got on the phone and starting calling and taking with individuals and companies I’ve been working with now for nearly a decade. I had conversation after conversation with many uncertain. My advice was to hang tight” and trust that we will be coming down the other side of this most recent spike when the conference begins.

And so it was.
And so we arrived.
And so we kept moving forward…safely, sustainably, successfully.

With nearly 1000 in attendance, over 80 exhibiting organizations, multiple workshops, tours, keynote sessions, evening networking receptions, private hosted dinners, 5 concurrent sessions over two days, and (last bit not least) an outdoor live equipment show for over 500….WE DID IT!

I would like to share my deepest gratitude for all the vendors, hotel and convention center staff, who showed up, and worked tirelessly to help make all of this happen.

I am beyond grateful for the USCC staff, BOD, members and partners which have helped keep my small woman-owned event management business afloat during a global pandemic.

And to my GREEN FERN TEAM(!) Irene, Beth, and Tiffany, you are badass warriors and we could not have done this without you!!!

While out on one of my long bike rides a few months ago I had a vision. My vision was simple. That perhaps the healthiest thing (holistically) for us all will be to be back together in person, in community. This is my vision and wish for 2022 and beyond. That we continue to rebuild and gather and dissolve all of this isolation and loneliness that has accrued over these past two years. 2022 is going to be a turning point. I believe in humanity and I still believe in a brighter more sustainable future for all.
