28 minutes... 28 minutes and 39 seconds, to be precise. on is nothing short of perfection. THIS is how D+ shows should go. It's Daredevil season 4, Hawkeye, and Echo herself as a propper origin story all rolled into one. The fights are amazing, the details are spot on, and it's an entirely satisfying ride. This is everything I'd hoped it would be, and a bit more. Not bad for sub 30 minutes. Can't wait to binge the rest. :)

I'd hoped to cover this today, but the ache is still too fresh. For those who know, thank you for your kind words and well wishes. For those who don't, it's enough to say that while everyone has their flaws, we lost one of the greatest men I've ever known - Fitzgerald. He taught me...far more than I can ever repay. If I can get through a version of the song, I'll pop it up on YT. In the meantime, the immortal Frank Turn will have to do. Given it's his work, I leave you in the very best of hands.

Hey Cadre,

Several of you've reached out today to ask me about Necronomicon. Unfortunately I'm not going to be there this year.
As I never made a big public post that I 'was' going, I never made one that I wasn't. My new publisher is re-editing and re-releasing the existing books, so, as I told Necro's excellent staff when I asked for the refund for my table in the dealer's room, it made no sense to attend this year. Apparently a communication snafu happened internally, as I got a message a week or two ago from the panel coordinator to ask if I was still planning to attend. I'm apparently, as of today, still listed on the website as "attending".

I can only appologize to everyone who assumed I'd be there. Totally understandable, but unfortunately, not accurate. Next time something like this happens, I'll make a public post regardless. Clearly it's best to cover my bases. For any inconvenience or disappointment this's caused, I really am VERY sorry. :/

So...
The day's drained down into it's final minutes of solitary silence.
The day may be quiet, but I... I am unquiet. My mind is unquiet. Why? Is it because of the day?
Yes and no. This is Decoration Day (at least in its original form, post Civil War). As of 1969, it became Memorial Day - often thought of, though rarely spoken aloud as "National BBQ Day".

I "almost" posted something earlier today, but it felt obligatory - as if I were going through traditional, expected motions rather than actually sitting down and considering the reality of where we've been, where we are, and where we hope to go as a nation. I realized, (blessedly before I posted anything,) that whatever I wrote at that point would've been about checking boxes. It'd have been the equivelant of the empty, hollow, "thank you for your service" that so many Americans give out as a matter of course. So, I kept myself to myself, so to speak.

Hours later, I've realized what was bothering me - why I got so disconnected.
The men and boys - and now women and girls too... Those who've put themselves in harm's way for us and lost their lives by doing it? More and more it feels to me like we view them as numbers and, if we think about them at all, a sad sacrifice that we understand no better than they often did. They deserve better from us. Certainly they deserve better from me.

So, to those who survive their sons and daughters (yes, daughters - there were over 100 women lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom alone,) I wish you peace on today of all days. For those who would prefer not to think about these things? That's your right. It's "not" right, but it is "your" right.

For those who found their feet and stood in the breach? I'm grateful, and hope that in the end you've also found peace. God knows you've earned it.

There is not now, nor has there ever been anyone like her. And for the last several days she's been singing in my head nonstop.
This version of the vid was put out by the D.P. (Director of Photography,) and editor. The vid ws cut in advance of the Elevate Film Festival back in 2007.

is a voice I promise you all know and likely love for her voice acting. She, , and Cam Clarke played roles in countless cartoons and video games. In Cree's case, you might remember her from the show "A Different World."

For me, she's someone who personifies inspiration. She broke barriers, of course. Inspirational in its own right, and for reasons that should be clear at this late date. But it's her sense of self that always draws me back. Her voice "is" music to me. There's an honesty in her music, and a presence in her voice that shines through regardless of what script she's reading, what part she's playing, or what face her characters present.

Today is a significant day for many around the world. Passover and Ramadan are in full swing, and it's Easter Sunday. As we take time to celebrate these holidays, let's also remember the importance of communication and understanding. We often seem more focussed on division than discovery, which means we often miss out on insights and ideas out of simple fear or differences of opinion. Nobody's opinion can take away your birthday. Take a second, take a breath, and take a chance. You'd be surprised how much you have in common with what are too often thought of as "those people".

Hey Cadre!
I just got back from an amazing trip to Norway! Spent some quality time with old friends, made some new ones, played a little music, and had an all-around great time. I was even able to have some traditional Norwegian winter food, and local drinks - ohhhh, the water of life in its many, many forms!

I'll be sharing some pics and videos soon, so stay tuned!

Also, it's my birthday today! Thank you all for the likes and well-wishes, they mean a lot to me. And speaking of birthday gifts, my guitar got on the wrong flight, but British Airways just delivered it safe and sound. How's THAT for a hatching day happening?!

Ok Cadre, it's time for the big reveal!

As I told you yesterday, I've got some exciting news to share. I've been an indie author since 2019, and in that time, I've published half a million words in The Cycle of Bones. You guys can't seem to get enough of my Military Fantasy/Horror series, and that drive and interest has brought us here. I'm thrilled to announce that at the end of last week, I signed a publishing deal!

So, what does this mean?

For a brief period, The Cycle of Bones series will be pulled from the shelves, so to speak. Each book will then receive a new round of professional editing and formatting before being marketed and released, one by one. The content won't change - the story stands. But I'm not above admitting that there are a few things that could use a bit of cleaning up in each book.

So what happens then?

Audiobooks! (With the right voice actors handpicked by yours truly!) I've had to make do with screen readers and Alexa. Real talent - the kind that can draw you into their performance of the written word - is justifiably expensive. The publishing company removes that obstacle. I'm beyond excited to hear my work come alive in a whole new way!

This deal will also help the music/ side of things. We're looking into the possibility of putting QR codes in the physical and eBook versions. When scanned, they'll take you to Spotify to play the song from the soundtracks associated with that particular scene. My hope is that this will turn new readers onto the rest of my music (unless you've all been lying to me, and I actually suck :D). If all goes well, we should see some fresh new faces joining the Cadre before long.

Oh! And this also means the books will be available in brick-and-mortar stores like Barnes and Noble, as well as in libraries!

So, yeah - I'd say this is an exciting step forward, and I can't wait to see where it takes us!
