FROM THE NEWSROOM: A MESSAGE FROM CT DEEP: TODAY'S FIRE DANGER LEVEL IS LOW
FROM THE NEWSROOM: (BROOKLYN) It is year 172 for the Brooklyn Fair and it opens today at 4:00 p.m. at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds, announced Vice President of the Windham County Agricultural Society, Sandy Eggers when she appeared on the WINY Morning Show this week.
A family event, the Fair features fun for all ages, such as the Butterfly tent. Guests can go into the tent with hundreds of butterfly's and use a paint brush to feed them, or let them land to be observed.
Eggers say there are many kid friendly things to do at the Fair, and the play-land celebrating 25 years is one of them. “This year, we are all kind of looking to see because it’s totally revamped. Everything that you are accustomed to seeing out there is new. Pam has put together a whole new village, a whole new concept, different kinds of activities, all new facades. Just something fun and different and just offer up something for the kids and the families. That’s what you want to have there.” There will also be old time contests for kids such as donut or pie eating, and vegetable races.
Of course, the Fair will include great food, live entertainment, music, rides, and vendors.
As with any agricultural fair, one cannot help but stop to see the animals. “If you are coming in from the North gate towards the cemetery, you are going to start over on the left hand side. You’ve got our big barn and is full of sheep, oxen, and then pigs and all. And, even with the pigs we have fun things and all, because we enjoy having a good time. Then, there is a giant tent that John Lavoie has put together, and he kind of offers a little bit of everything. This year he has added mini horses in there and he’s got donkeys and mules.”
There will also be draft horses from Rhode Island, demonstrations on soap making and many other displays.
The fair opens today at 4:00 p.m., and runs through Sunday, August 28th. The Brooklyn Fairgrounds are located at Route 169/15 Fairgrounds Road in Brooklyn.
Tickets are $10 for adults, Seniors and Military are $8, and kids 12 and under are free.
