A few suggestions from ALL your local ERs in the nation:
1. If you come to the ER and request a COVID-19 test “just to be sure” and showing no symptoms you might not get what you ask for. If you are not sick you are wasting precious time and resources- not only that you are potentially exposing yourself when it is not necessary.
2. Please rethink your visit to your local ED. If you’ve had this leg pain for the last 2 years, coming in right now MAY not be the best time. Give your P*P a quick call and see if they can help before coming here. We’re already overwhelmed.
3. Please be patient with staff. We have policies in place to protect ourselves and your loved ones. We ask you to wear a mask for protection, we’re running these tests because of your chief complaint, we probably have only have a one visitor policy to contain spread as much as possible. We are doing our jobs, so DO NOT MAKE it harder for us.
4. If you work as a floor nurse- understand we are drowning. We are doing the best we can truly. So please understand not all meds are given, you may not get 10/10 report, they may not be packaged up in a bow. But they’re stable and if they have a room, they’re coming to you, quickly.
5. STOP STEALING OUR SUPPLIES. Like we don’t walk into Target arms wide open grabbing Clorox wipes and bathing suits and walk out.. don’t take away our supplies.
ITS STEALING, it’s ILLEGAL, and most of all...that mask won’t be doing anything for you ...cause you’re not even wearing it right!
6. DO NOT LET THIS CONTROL YOUR LIFE!!.
Don’t cancel dinner plans, don’t coop up in the house (unless you’re symptomatic or told to). Wash your hands, don’t touch your face, listen to REPUTABLE sources (CDC hello?) and be mindful of your surroundings and WHO is surrounding you.
Don’t visit grandma right now.. she’s one we gotta watch out for.. after you’re done calling your primary....you can call her too!
7. WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS!
