At Tierra we provide training programs on sustainable, organic farming of the Moringa tree with a strong focus on preserving and protecting the environment. Our aim is to enable and encourage these farmers to ensure the highest quality crop of Moringa Leaves are produced. We purchase the raw materials back from the registered Tierra farmers at a higher rate than market value, to process into our fine, organic, nutrient rich Moringa based products. Once processed and packaged to the highest quality, and with all partners getting true value for their work, we believe that thousands of farmers and tens of thousands of people can be positively affected, directly and indirectly changing their lives and consequently, changing the face of farming in these regions as a whole. Moringa is already replenishing soils, improving food security and nutrition. Households also can produce their own oils, taking the stress out of the forest for other energy needs. We work on the philosophy of ownership, capacity and sustainability, where the farmers grow the crops on their own land with their own efforts thus taking complete ownership and responsibility for a high quality crop. Capacity comes in through the training programs, as people are our greatest asset. However, they have to be given the correct knowledge and tools to perform to their own potential. Sustainability comes to the fore as we believe when trying to develop communities, the only way can be through long term programs which actually meet the community’s needs, by the community. for the community.
