Happy St. Patrick's Day!

As the official Web Designer/Developer for the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade, I am honored to work for this amazing organization.

This year will be my first full parade and the culmination of two years of work to bring a new look and new functionality to the website.

Our goals were to make the organization more efficient, focusing on both back-end workflow and for ease of delivering information to those in the parade and the public.

Systems are now in place to automate registration, advertising purchases, gala tickets, and more. This new functionality allows for the flexibility to draw on this information in various ways.

Also new this year was the addition of a Mobile Web App that links directly to the searchable Line Of March page. This new functionality enables both marchers and bystanders to find the information they are looking for quickly.

This project represents the many services that I provide as a Web Designer and Developer and I am very proud to help the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade have a wonderful day!

Update Post - It's a long one!

The week before Thanksgiving, I launched two beautiful websites for my clients. One was for a new Psychiatry practice, and the other a Relationship Counselor. I put the pressure on getting these sites completed before the Holidays, making my clients happy and letting me enjoy the festivities knowing these projects were off my desk.

My husband and I had a pre-Thanksgiving trip to Scottsdale planned, and I left for some R&R feeling like all the loose ends were neatly tied up. We received a frantic call not a day into the trip that my parent's brand new car was stolen out our driveway. I felt so badly for them. Don't EVER leave your key fob in the vehicle. These guys are stealthy.

Thankfully, the rest of the trip was uneventful. We came home in time to receive our guests, had a packed house of the family and had 26 guests for Thanksgiving. We overate, laughed a lot, and enjoyed being together again.

With the dishes away and the house all cleaned up, I am back to work on projects for my clients.

I am in the middle of working with an innovative home cleaning company on their branding and marketing strategy. It is so exciting helping them to define their brand and grow their business. Their energy is infectious.

You may think that Christmas is coming way too soon, but imagine already preparing for St. Patrick's Day! The good news is that the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade is on this year! With that, we are busy building a new digital infrastructure for registration, automating the Parade's line of march, and building out a new web app for parade day communications. I love making systems work smoother. Doing it for the Parade is an extraordinary opportunity.

I am now volunteering my services to a fantastic local farm, Fable Farms. The story behind the farm is compelling, and I wanted to help them communicate their mission through their website and support them on their trajectory. I may get some free eggs too!

With all that has kept me busy these last few months, I know how very blessed I am, and this week it especially hit home with sad news. So remember to count your blessings, and don't leave the fob in the car!

Just finishing up this beauty! I was hired to build the website and copywriting services, as well as source a new patient management system for my client who has a Psychiatry practice.

While this was not a deep dive branding job, every website build incorporates basic branding that reflects the tone, messaging, and works to differentiate and engage the business with their visitors.

I decided to add this today after 9/11 after reading so many posts that friends and "strangers" shared all over social media.

I have always been struck by how this tragedy has had the power to unite people. Through such horror and pain, it has been a mirror of our better selves resulting in a shared moment of humanity.

What I don't understand is why this only seems to happen on 9/11. Our holiday of loss is also a holiday of unity, especially when we are so polarized.

This picture is of Thomas Brennan. A young man with a wife and young children, who lost his life on 9/11. I never met him. I never met his family.

I did build a website for the Foundation that his family started shortly after his death. Twenty years after his death, this Foundation endures keeping his memory alive, for his family to be close to him, and to the strangers who receive his scholarships.

Building the website, I went through many pictures of Tom and his family, heard many stories about him, and looked in his eyes many times, thinking about the unthinkable.

For those left behind, the only consolation they have is keeping those they love alive by breathing life into their memory for the world to see. For a stranger to "meet" them through pictures and stories, their life is seeded in a new person. Most live with this loss every day, but 9/11 is the day we collectively share this pain and the memories of each life lost more deeply.

Maybe this is why this day unites us. Perhaps it is a way to console another's pain.

The Thomas Brennan Memorial Foundation was created to do just this.
Donating to the Foundation is a gift to his family to allow Tom to touch people's lives, seeding new memories by awarding scholarships to Boston College students who will learn about Tom's life.

So while I built a website for this Foundation, I also got to meet Tom. And now, a little bit of his life is with me.

I hope everyone had a great summer! It was a busy one for sure. I wanted to share this intelligent, beautiful, and interactive site that we launched over the summer.

This client provides consulting and implementation of Change Management. Who knew this was a thing! Well, now I do. And this is what I love about my job, learning firsthand about so many different types of businesses. Understanding my client's industry and how they do their business is essential for the web design process. It helps me deliver a website that represents my clients and speaks to their visitors.
