Bringing Portland style coffee from the Pacific Northwest
to Eindhoven, The Netherlands..... On a bakfiets. This blend is only available at The Coffee Pedaler.
tland, Oregon, located in the northwest of the United States, is known for its thriving coffee culture. A typical roast is not burnt and oily, nor light and acidic. Robusta isn't completely avoided, giving a rich crema. The flavor is pecans, pie-cherries, molasses caramel and dark chocolate. The Latte is the drink of choice, usually not less than twelve ounces (355 ml) a double ristretto with creamy foam the sheen of white paint poured precisely to the rim. When you're finished there is no need to brush your teeth, the espresso was so well extracted and the milk not overheated. We can't pretend to recreate this experience perfectly, but hopefully you'll get a pretty good idea of what it's like, and understand why so many people say The Coffee Pedaler reminds them of the coffee back home. Coffee
When the idea of The Coffee Pedaler was first taking shape, we approached Daan Verleg, owner and roaster of DENF Coffee Eindhoven, with the idea of creating a unique blend of coffee based on a similar profile to popular Portland blends. He heartily accepted the challenge and together we arrived at a final melange. We serve all the usual espresso based drinks, if you don't see what you like, just ask or explain what you're looking for. We'll happily prepare it if it is in our power to do so. During the warmer months, we also serve refreshing cold brewed coffee over ice. Tea
Four teas are generally on offer at The Coffee Pedaler. Two from Twining's of London: English Breakfast and Jasmine Green. Mint tea from Zonnatura as well as Annique Rooibos tea serve those who wish to avoid caffeine. Throughout the seasons, we like to offer varying sorts such as Masala Chai in the winter and Sweet Tea in the summer. If you have suggestions concerning our tea selection, we'd love to hear them! Chocolate
Hot chocolate is an obvious favorite with everyone, especially when it is cold. We prepare it by the cup with real Belgian chocolate. The cocoa butter is also included for a creamier mouthfeel. It is carefully emulsified using the steam pressure from the espresso machine, and topped with fresh whipped cream. Ingredients
Just having great coffee beans doesn't mean the coffee you'll serve will be fantastic! Our water comes from the Bar-le-duc spring in Utrecht, long known for its superior water. The milk is always fresh (not shelf stable) and organic. For our lactose free customers we offer oat milk, also suitable for soy free, nut free and gluten free people. The sugar is natural cane sugar, and if you take sweeteners, we have some natural stevia ones available. If we are featuring a drink such as iced coffee, we like Monin syrups for a flavored sweetness. Find us
