When I was in the thick of my overexercising phase, I didn’t even notice. I thought what I was doing was great for me. My body was so “lean”, the amount of compliments I got 🤯

I also got “don’t get any skinnier”

Everything revolved around my body, what I ate, how much, when I ate. I thought it was something everyone could (and should) do because of my obsession I was able to “finally” see the scale move.

What may surprise you:
-my life revolved around my body and the anxiety to stay this small was unbearable
-I was told by judges at my fitness show that I wasn’t lean enough 🤣😂 Jess in 2016 wasn’t able to laugh at that. I was crushed. It created a monster.
-My periods were all out of wack and irregular, a telltale sign that your body isn’t working properly.
-I missed out on many social events / meals for fear of temptation or weight gain
-My coach even told me she was worried about me. I was in complete denial.

I share this vulnerability with you today, because working out for others, and not for yourself is damaging. LIFE IS TOO SHORT! Enjoy it, get good protein, take long walks, eat ice cream, and most importantly your body is a vessel. It’s temporary. Give it health and give the rest to God.

Learning how to move my body in a way that is safe for me, as well as learning nutrition, helped heal me. That and a lot of inner healing gave me the ability to EAT FOOD, feel good, and healthy.

My why is always being there those I care about in my life. If I want to be the best wife, mom, counselor, dog mom, friend etc. I have to take care of myself first🧡

"Can you BELIEVE it’s already back to school time? I just started my new position at my new school (and my hubby’s alma mater!)

Here are a few tips for those of you who are heading back to school!

3 tips for back to school for moms/educators:
1. Start shifting your routine to the school schedule if you haven’t already! Go to sleep and wake up earlier at least 2 weeks before.

Memorial Day Weekend:

Started Saturday honoring fallen soldiers with Murph Challenge💪🏽

Drank the fizz, shakes, fueled up well.

Ended Saturday with Margaritas . Healthy living is about figuring out what works best for you, your body, your life.

I’ve had the days of restrictions, saying no to social events because of my diet of the day.

1. Give yourself grace. If the only thing you did today was take care of your little human(s) than that’s AMAZING.

2. TAKE CARE OF YOU! It’s the whole overused, but absolutely rightfully so line of: put your oxygen mask on first. Please remember to do this. You’re too amazing to let yourself go.

3. Dig deep into your faith, nourish your relationship with God. Hands down necessary, most important. NEED!

If you were that dedicated you’d have achieved your goal... ☝️... 🤦‍♀️NOOO HONEY!
I’ve heard it said and being transparent probs said it myself: if you’re not dedicated to your goals you’re not going to achieve them.
This is 100 % true, but what are your goals? What will it actually take to achieve them? Are you willing to do whatever it takes? If not, maybe it’s time to adjust your goal 🤷‍♀️
Take my yesteryears of body building & marathon training. The amount of dedication and time takes a lot of sacrifice and determination to be prepared for either of those.
I dedicated, I did it, I accomplished my goal. Was it a part time job commitment wise? Yes. A lot of time was spent after work and on the weekends preparing. That’s not how I want to spend that time anymore. I have someone pretttty special to hang with.
Okay, meet mom Jess:
-thinks abs are cool, now serve a difference purpose than ascetics since they carried a human and were cut through to extract said human.
-kinda wants to workout, kinda wants to sleep through it. Makes working out a priority at least 3 days a week, no longer than an hour.
-Feels pressure to have a hawt mom bod, loves smoothies, also loves quesadillas & ice cream. Empowering women to love the body they have and take care of it.

What we don’t want to hear right? 😂

I firmly believe that’s why so many walk around with the weight of the world on their shoulders. They try to push down the trauma, the pain, the sadness in their life and it either keeps them stuck or bursts at the seams.

I lived in such a cycle of control, planning every detail of my day to the minute, shaming myself if I wasn’t productive or doing what I thought I needed to. In reality, I was avoiding the feelings I didn’t want (but needed to) feel.

It takes time, courage, support and a whole lot of God 🧡

The way we talk about (and to) ourselves is the way we FEEL about ourselves.

I’m a few months postpartum and as much as society says I shouldn’t be, I am happy in my body.

Why? Because I:
-stopped being a jerk to myself 😂
-recognized when I was starting that BS comparison game and redirected my thoughts
-reframed my thinking
✨focused more on what matters who I AM not how I look
✨gave birth to two baby girls who needs a confident momma, not one who shames her body

It’s pretty cool to workout because it makes me feel good. It’s nice to eat when I’m hungry and eat what I want. It’s amazing to feel happy in my body when it’s not the SMALLEST size or weight I’ve ever been 🤯

I love this body because it’s my vehicle to live a Christ-driven life and make a difference in the world 👏

My mug cake brings all the boys to the yard…

Who has a sweet tooth?!🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

-2 scoops Arbone chocolate protein (I used simply 1, our low carb/low sugar option)
-1 tsp baking powder
-Add water or almond milk and stir until batter like consistency
-microwave 1 min
-stir
-microwave 30 seconds

Topped with peanut butter and a glass of unsweetened vanilla almond milk on the side 🙌
Summer feeling is here and so are the cookouts, drinks and my fav - s’mores ! Well mainly the marshmallows.

4 months of Elise Marie.
She loves baths, her toes, being held, her sister. Her smile and little giggles and coos melt us is daily.
She is cuddly, chill and happy. Still figuring out the whole sleep thing, but seems to get better daily 🙌😅
