The colors change throughout the day depending on how the bottle is touched by light. Each bottle is handmade, signed and numbered by the artist.

Translating the many nuances of green of Florida’s nature was the challenge of French artist Maxime Defer. With Terra Sigillata he was able to obtain a rich variety of nuances which continuously evolve depending on the time of the day and how the perfume bottle is touched by light…

Florida swamps are enchanting not only because of the numerous birds that come out unexpectedly out of the bushes but also because of the mysterious scent that they exhale. Heated by the sun a multitude of wild flowers hidden behind the high grass exhale their delicious scent. To me, the most enchanting is the scent of swamp lilies: milky, green and spicy with an enveloping sensual warmth.
 

Exploring Fakahachee in Summertime might sound like a crazy idea but once you are at peace with the hot and humid weather and… the mosquitoes… nature truly rewards you with majestic orchids, bromeliads, lilies and birds.
I was so luck to meet with Rudi and Olga – friends of Fakahachee - who know the Preserve like the back of their hand and showed me some of the wild beauty of the Everglades … And for a perfume designer what a treat and a joy to see and smell the famous Butterfly Orchid (Encyclia Tempensis) in the wild ! This is one of the many flowers that inspired my newest creation: Florida Vibrations. I could not thank them enough for taking me with them !

Are you familiar with Midi Eternel our candle inspired by Provence? Its lid/coaster was designed by French artist Pascale Mestre using the technique of mixed clays.

We used Helichrysum in our Djélem Eau de Parfum. The Sculpture-Bottle of Djélem translates the story of the perfume. French artist Alain Fichot sculpted Gypsies dancing with long shawls – the porcelain sculpture is a canvas for his Art with the crystals. The bright crystals reflecting the warmth of summer are as wild and unpredictable as the Gypsies; each time they appear in unique shapes and colors. Summer is here and it is time to enjoy another beautiful flower in full bloom: Helichrysum also known as “Everlasting Flower”. My favorite places to uncover its warm, spicy, earthy facets are in Corsica where the flower blooms wild all over the island.

In Morocco, the valley of roses is composed of hundreds of parcels of land each owned by a family. Rosa Damascena is used to separate these parcels of land. In these green fertile lands located in the middle of the desert, roses grow among olive trees, fig trees, almond trees, apricot and pomegranate trees but also fields of wheat and barley… From the rooftop of our Kasbah it is hard to imagine that such riches and variety can be found in one place! In wintertime earth, rocks and a few bare trees is all that is left…

Rose harvesting in Morocco; what a joy !
I had the great privilege of meeting young entrepreneur Hafssa who invited me to join her team at the break of dawn. Her Rosa Damascena field lies in the middle of an endless desert. The first shift begins at dawn so that the first distillation may start around 8AM. Harvest is mainly done by groups of women rotating throughout the morning to pick all bloomed roses… The light is so clear early in the morning, the team is encouraged by the songs of birds and the delicious smell of roses. We are excited to announce the launch of session #2 of our Sulekó Scented Treks which is dedicate to the Rose ! Two rose species have been singled out for perfume design because of the riches of their fragrance, the quality of their oil and their high oil yield : Rosa Damascena and Rosa Centifolia. During our masterclass we will focus on these two roses, discover their history, their specificities… You will receive a kit with vials containing the precious Rosa Damascena essence and Rosa Centifolia absolue.
We will then tell you about the Sulékó Language of Scents and you will learn about the messages conveyed by the rose. Finally, we will discover Vy Roza the fragrance that we created using Rosa Damascena and you will see how scent ingredients come into play to narrate a story….

We are excited to announce the launch of session #2 of our Sulékó Scented Treks which is dedicated to the Rose ! We want you to vibrantly experience rosa damascena when it is in full bloom and in its natural habitat; to do so, we will take you to a little heaven of peace: the Moroccan Valley of Roses! The Valley stretches 30 km along river M’Goun on the Southern foothills of the High Atlas mountains. All along the river lies a beautiful oasis with hundreds of rose gardens; the oasis is like a trail of green in the middle of a desert that leads to the mountains and canyons of High Atlas. In the oasis there are narrow paths which take you through the gardens where the roses grow intertwined with fig trees, almond trees, olive trees, pomegranate trees but also fields of wheat, barley, birch groves and marshes full of birds. The songs of birds, the fragrance of roses, the peacefulness of the oasis makes it the ideal place to uncover rosa damascena and take a break to breathe and reconnect. The M’Goun Valley of Roses is located in Amazighs land (the land of the “free man”), its main city is Kelaat M’Gouna.
