What we do

Very simply, we produce shows that make an impression. In some cases we develop productions from concept to completion.

In other cases artists or creatives bring us their ideas in various stages of completion and we work collaboratively to see a show come to fruition. We also offer advice and mentoring to assist artists producing their own work. How We Do It

We use our experience and our extensive network to ensure each of our shows or advice packages is delivered to the highest possible standard. Lauren Eisinger

For a while I was going to start a blog called Cake For Breakfast about the producing experience. Pancakes count as cake right?

Pancakes on a weekday because:
- self care is important and finding time for yourself amongst the crazy is vital

- energy is waning mid season and I’ve chosen to fix this by adding sugar

- when freelance life gets hard it’s good to do things that you wouldn’t be able to do working a traditional 9-5, like pancake brunch in the cafe at 10am, to remind yourself about the upside

- when being an adult means paying your bills and organising your admin, you get to remember it also means buying dessert whenever you want

If you’re looking for an excuse for cake for breakfast stop looking and start eating the cake.

I was scrolling back through photos and stumbled upon these stunners featuring breathtaking THAW by . There is a lot that I love about working with Legs but I think my favourite thing, is they are not afraid to make a bold statement. They're not a voice in the crowd, they're the one out the front leading the pack. They have the incredible talent of being able to find the humanity and heartstrings in even the most confronting existential issues.

Cleo Wade (artist and poet) said in a TED talk "when the world asks us big questions that require big answers, we have two options:
1. to feel so overwhelmed or unqualified, we do nothing
2. to start with one small act and qualify ourselves"

A Legs work makes you stop, listen, feel and empathise. It reaches out and touches your heart, then takes you by the hand and gently shows you that next step, and gives you the little push of encouragement that takes you from the overwhelm of doing nothing, to doing that one small act.

Legs makes art that turns passive viewers into agents of change.

We're super excited that the beautiful show Interloper by will be heading to in August, playing at .

Thank you to brilliant AD Kate Fell for having us in your inaugural festival and congrats on an excellent program. We can't wait.
........

Interloper: One that jumps into the midst of things without an invitation to do so.

Tasmanian circus company ROOKE invites you to an exploration of belonging, connection, humanity and identity in this new world we are all coming to terms with. When an uninvited stranger arrives, we meet a complex individual who struggles to engage with the people around him. Interloper is a celebration of mundane human existence featuring five highly skilled circus artists who, at heart, are just like you.

Starting work on a new idea is like leaping into the abyss and trying to build your parachute on the way down. Sometimes it just doesn't work. Then there are times when everyone's smiling, ideas are flowing and there's a hum in the air whispering excitedly that you just might be on to something.

For the past two weeks and .j.jacobs (The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom) have been developing a new show for families. It's been a dream and we can't wait to take the next steps.
Thank you and for giving us space to play. It always takes a village and we are so glad you came on this adventure with us.

It turns out, there's a high degree of cross-over between being a producer and living with a macaw. These are lessons that have proved the same for life as a producer, and life with my feathered kid, Lilly.

1. When Lilly and I go out, everyone always remembers the star of the show, I'm the random hanger on
2. Nobody tells you you’re ready for it, you have to legitimise yourself, and everyone questions your life choices
3. It’s a lifestyle choice. It changes everything about the way you go about your day
4. It costs lots of money, and it could always cost more.
5. She calls the shots, life revolves around her, I have to adapt.
6. It’s constantly challenging you, and you rise to the occasion (or quit!)
7. It is part of who you are, it fills a hole in your soul, and you can’t imagine being you without it

You know when the room looks like this, you're in the right room.

This was taken last year during rehearsal for Tipping Point by which featured a cast of women, from their 20s to their 50s devising no-holds-barred, powerful physical theatre.

Always a pleasure to hold space for voices like these.

He’s obscenely talented, a genuinely lovely person and we are so privileged to be able to work with him.

About a year ago he said “I think I want to make a show for children and families” and next week he’s off to the UK for two weeks of show development with Olivia Jacobs, founder of to explore ideas for exactly that.

Creating new work is like leaping off solid ground into the void and building a parachute on the way down. Who knows if any of it will work, but we are very lucky to be able to give it a try.

Our job as producers is to take the artist’s vision, make them feel supported enough to dream as big as they can and bigger, then step by step remove every barrier to that vision being reality.

Here’s the incredible and I in a pre show moment for The Unfair Advantage at the Pylon Lookout at Sydney Harbour Bridge. Magic does happen and dreams do come true.

No matter what the project, ultimately, it's always about this.
People. together.
Whether its bringing the right creatives together on a project, bringing excited audience together with a show they'll love or pairing a presenting partner with the perfect production, it boils down to having passionate people united around shared visions and great stories.

We've been a little hit and miss on this platform of late, but we're back and getting the house in order. To be clear, the state of the insta is not a reflection of the state of our company - that's going great guns. So over the next few posts we'll bring you all up to speed so the outside matches the madness within!

Let's take it from the top. Who are you and what are you doing?
🙋‍♀️ I'm Lauren. I'm a producer.
🤸‍♀️💃🧞‍♀️🧚 This ship doesn't sail alone. There's five of us on the team
⭐ We produce shows, we program venues and festivals and we do these things both for our own projects as well as major arts centres and external clients.
💬 We have a people-first human centered approach to everything we do.
💭 We love bold, imaginative ideas

“But I suspect I’m at my most successful and ambitious and foolish and wise... When I don’t know what a lover of things like this would expect, because nobody’s ever loved anything like this before" -

After the most epic battles with Covid, Escalate premieres next week at the Arts Centre Melbourne. I'm more than proud of this crazy ambitious work that pushes an artform right to it's edge and then beyond.

Escalate redefines what juggling can be. If you're in Melbourne next week, I challenge you to put your preconceptions to one side and come take a look.

them: "It's a long shot but worth a try"
me: "everything I've ever done started as a long shot"

This pic? Is Race Horse Company's show Super Sunday. One of the most creative, utterly insane and brilliant things I've seen. It's a work of scale in every sense, surely not something that should ever be attempted at a fringe festival.

But one day I sent an unassuming email. Then there was a phone conversation. Then I went to Finland to see the work for one of the only two performances it was giving that year. And taken by its brilliance, we hatched a plan to bring it to Edinburgh. Fringe 2019 it played a full season with and wowed thousands of lucky audience members.

Even the longest of shots can break down into bite-sized steps, then we can put one foot in front of the other.

Some might consider me a bit too young and too female to be doing my job. Behind an email address you can be anyone, and when I met a certain producer in person he said "so you're a very powerful woman" (referring to the level of authority and responsibility I had in the role).

I, like so many, have encountered some spectacular misogyny whilst doing my job. To any women taking a swing at the glass ceiling, I see you, and I'm cheering for you.

Here's a baby producer about to tackle the wilds of Bunnings in preparation for her first big independent season.

A dear friend sent this to me recently and it just put everything in perspective for a moment. If you asked younger Lauren what the 'producing dream' was, what were her big goals? Well they'd look remarkably similar to my life right now - run my own company, produce world-class work, tour internationally and program for major festivals. In a moment that's extremely busy and full of challenges and stresses, its amazing to stop, look back and realise how far you've come.
