Love this game! Your kids won't moan and groan about these Presidents' Day activities! Start with an engaging and challenging game that requires thinking (they won't even know it!) and develops word sets related to Presidents' Day. Students then use these word sets to select writing/research activities from choice menus that also have all the templates/instructions ready to go. Just print, stick to a folder, and place your templates inside...perfect for independent use in a literacy center. Celebrate a holiday and still sticking to academics!

One of my favorite games to play when my classes were looking for writing ideas was "In a Pickle." It's a thought-provoking, debate- inciting, quick-paced card game requiring players to fit 1,000s of nouns IN one another. It's super simple to learn and addictively fun. We twisted this game into a writing activity by collecting the card sets (which are called pickles) and using these to inspire creative writing assignments.

As a twist on this game, I am creating themed game sets that include playing cards, writing choice menus, and templates- everything you need to celebrate a fun holiday but still keep it academically focused! You and your kids will have a blast! Here is the Valentine's Day Edition and Presidents' Day is on its way!
