After over 5 years of providing excellent local cultural education opportunities, The City Classroom is getting ready to begin a new chapter, with the University of Leicester to take over from The Spark Arts for Children as our lead partner from April 2023.

We view artists, schools and educators, and cultural organisations as our stakeholders, and so we would like to take this opportunity to consult you to help re-shape a programme which is responsive to the needs of our communities in Leicestershire.

It would be very much appreciated if you could take 5 minutes to complete this short survey:
https://forms.office.com/e/6v7k3NJjRy

We're excited about how this transition could allow The City Classroom to grow and develop, and how the University's assets can strengthen our offer - pushing forward The City Classroom's vision that every child and young person will thrive through a rich and adventurous cultural education.

If you would like to respond to this survey in an alternative way (e.g. verbally), please email [email protected]

How a focus on arts can boost resilience and character 19/08/2022

How a focus on arts can boost resilience and character Using art as a means for pupils to follow their own ideas and express themselves without a fear of being wrong can be a powerful way to build confidence, resilience and character. Senacre Wood Primary School in Maidstone, Kent has a focus on art for these very reasons.

After an all too short run at Newarke Houses Museum last summer this exhibition returns to the museum to commemorate Leicester’s ‘Blitz Night’ when 108 people were killed by German bombers.

The exhibition shows how Leicester prepared for air raids and covers all the German attacks. It also shows how people acted on that night, often in the words of those who were there.
