TOPIC: My Role in the place of Revival
Text: Act 2:37-47

What is Revival?
Revival simply means men coming to the knowledge of God and being filled with the Holy spirit.

Vs 42 tells us our role we ought to carry out for Revival.
"And they steadfastly persevered, devoting themselves constantly to the instruction and fellowship of the apostles"
Firstly, our role is to continue in the doctrines of the apostle which is preaching of the gospel that got us saved.

Fellowship simply means Partnership.
Our mission is a partnership. Therefore we partner with God to bring men to the Kingdom.

Secondly, another role to carry out as believers is to guide our heart from every strife and bitterness.
VS 44 shows how the new believers did everything in common not division.

Thirdly, giving should be done by believers to foster the growth of the kingdom.

Every believer is supposed to be involved in the work of ministry because that is God's primary purpose for every believer's life.
Being involved in the work of ministry will lead to personal Spiritual growth and edifying of the body of Christ.

Text: 2cor 5:14-15

We are obligated to Live for Christ because he died for us.
No matter the love a human shows to us , the person cannot die for anybody. That's why the love of Christ is unParalleled for Greater love has no man than when he lay down his life for his friends.

OUR RESPONSE TO THE LOVE OF CHRIST.
"The love of Christ compels us"
Because of the conviction that he died for us we should appreciate the love of God to the extent that it now compels us. Vs 14

The best thing that should pull any unbeliever to Christ is the appealing love of God.

Luke 7: 37-48
The more we have understanding of how much we have been forgiven, the more strong and more intense our Love for God will be.

Responding in love to the finished work of Christ is not a favour we are showing to God but instead it is appreciating his Mercy.

The step after responding to the love is to build relationship with the holy spirit (That's the next level).

Songs of Solomon 1:2-3.
There should be a desire in the believers to have an intimate relationship God because the love of Christ is better than wine according to vs 2

Every believer should take the next step which is becoming a bondslave; having not a free will but living only according to the will of the Father.

Living for Christ in 3 stages:
1. Accepting the forgiveness Christ has given
2. Developing relationship with the holy Spirit
3. Becoming a bondservant.

Solomon was teaching what is expected of the believer.
God expects us to become better and better. So that when the believer looks at his/her life the believerwould be able to see reasonable progress in the things of God.
A believer is supposed to grow and not be stagnant.

Eph 4:11-13
A believer maturing spiritually means that things that pertains to the spirit are arisen in your life(expressing more fruits pertaining to the spirit).

The believer still needs to pray, still needs the gathering of believers, still need to study the word as these are things needed for growth (Eph 4:13)

Note: If you stop doing the things expected as a believer, it’s only a matter of time before you go back to square one. You go backwards if I abandon things that make u grow.

Let your light so shine before men simply means that Christianity can be seen and not only by God, but also by men so they can give Glory to God in heaven.

Phil 3:12-14
A believer is expected to focus on places where he/she is not doing well and work on it. Paul said he is not perfect but he keeps pressing on forgetting the past things.
Spiritual growth has to all round.

HOW TO BECOME BETTER.
Eph 3:20 Phil 2:13
1) The empowering of the spirit: The holy spirit is not just the seal but all the operating system that powers your Christian Life. So to be a better believer, the believer has to yield to the holy Spirit and it happens by 2ways
I) By prayer
II) By study of the word

2) Daily Prayer and study of the word
Action Point: Create a daily schedule for your life for prayer and Bible study

3) Follow good examples Phil 3:17.
Mind those you follow because your association as a believer matters.

A believer should not allow circumstances or situations to determine his or her response to the things of God because many have gone through that and excelled (Writer of Hebrew called them the cloud of witnesses)

A call to follow christ is not a call to salvation .
God has quickened us who were once dead in trespasses and sins.

Salvation is God serving us and us receiving His service

What do we have in salvation
John 3:16. John 10:27-28; Luke 9:54
You have eternal life

The first thing that happens after salvation is that you have eternal life.
Eph 2:5-6
You do not follow God to be in heaven. At salvation, you are already seated in heavenly places. Luke 9:57-60.

Following Christ is not a call to have a better life.
The reason salvation does not cost you anything is because it has cost God everything.
Luke 9: 13

The call to follow Christ is not a self contered one. You have to deny self. Mathew 25:14-27

We should be thanksful that we partake of the inheritance in the saints, thankful for being translated from the kingdom of life into the kingdom of Light and thankful for forgiveness of sins.

If you see no reason to be thankful for, be thankful for life. There are persons that have all the riches and wealth in the world and are not alive to enjoy it, so be thankful and grateful for life.

• Born again

A priest is a mediator for us to christ as Christ is a mediator for us to God.
A priest must be holy.
