The kids are anxious y’all but it might look like something different. (By “the kids” I mean all of us who are growing, so my six kids. you. me. all of us.)

Update on GCS free meals during the shutdown.
Bus Delivery of Meals
FANS is changing its protocols based on new direction from the SDE. We are now allowed to provide two meals at one time (lunch and tomorrow’s breakfast). We are also allowed to use buses to deliver meals to various locations in addition to the 15 school sites we are currently utilizing. As a result, beginning THURSDAY, we will start handing out meals from 10 a.m. – noon, and will give everyone 18 years of age and younger (and special needs adults up to age 21) a free lunch plus breakfast for the next day. This will eliminate morning meal pick up and require only one trip per day to the feeding site. Per USDA regulations, children must be present to receive the meals. Shown below are the additional sites that will utilize buses for delivery (42 sites, some duplicates in list). We will continue to notify you if additional adjustments are made. This information will be updated on our website.
These sites were built off bus routes to the 21 GCS schools that are 100% certified for free and reduced meals through the Federal Community Eligibility Provision. The specific locations were picked as safe locations along to route to get the bus off the main road. Lunch for the day and breakfast for the next day will be provided at one time.

To ensure the students of Greenville County schools continue to receive healthy and nutritious meals during the time schools are closed in response to COVID-19, Greenville County Schools will be providing breakfasts and lunches free of charge to anyone 18 and younger at 15 District locations Monday through Friday. This program will begin Monday, March 16, 2020
Meals will be prepared in our school facilities by trained Food and Nutrition Services Staff. All existing DHEC and FDA approved procedures for meal prep, storage, service, and sanitation will be observed.
The following sites will be providing meals during the school closures. These locations were chosen based on criteria established by the USDA through the Seamless Summer Option (SSO), and also to ensure that there was one or more school locations in each community within the boundaries of our school district. Schools are eligible to operate SSO programs in geographical areas of need based on USDA census data or where 50 percent or more of the children qualify for free and reduced-priced meals during the school year.
While schools are closed, nutritionally balanced meals will be provided to all children aged 18 or younger regardless of race, color, s*x, disability, age or national origin. Children are not required to be enrolled in Greenville County Schools to be eligible for this service.
Breakfast will be served beginning at 8 am each morning and lunch will be served beginning at 11:00 am each morning at each location. All meals will be served in the school’s car drop off line.
