A brand new Malaysian dining experience in London... Prepared with Passion, enjoyed in the comfort o Food has always been a great passion of mine. The WAU!
It runs in the blood. The influences of my late Grandmother Mariam who was a Penang Nyonya, my late Hainanese Nanny Auntie Moi, my Auntie Lai Guat who hails from Malacca and a myriad of other motherly figures including my dearest Mummy have inspired me to indulge in learning more about our heritage as well as the different cuisines of the world. Throughout my working life, I have always had some c
onnection with food. Be it flipping burgers at McDonalds, serving Sevruga Caviar Malossol on board Malaysia Airlines' First Class, planning Menus for the Orient, American and Australian routes, whipping up Chicken Rendang at the Madrid Barajas Airport Catering Kitchen right up to making Satay in Santiago. My adventures have made me realise that life is about celebrating the simple pleasures and these pleasures are to be shared. Some friends and I are now about to embark on an adventure to create a brand new experience of Malaysian dining here in London. We have decided to call it WAU! The WAU is a traditional Malaysian kite. During flight, the WAU displays elements of grace, beauty and a sense of dynamism that together make it a unique symbol that represents the essence of an uplifting experience that good food brings. Its homonym, ‘Wow’ is defined as 'to impress and excite (someone) greatly. In choosing ‘WAU!’ as a brand name, we aim to impress London diners with an experience that combines cultural authenticity with the excitement of something uniquely exciting. experience will soon be available as a Private Dining option in the comfort of your own home. In the coming months, we will be working on getting our own home where we look forward to welcoming you to experience the richness of our heritage in an ambience which reflects warmth, grace and traditional hospitality.
