We here at UWEC GEEKcon love our unique local small businesses, and what a great time to show your love too! Take advantage of these beautiful spring days and take a stroll downtown, buy a gift for Dad (Father's Day June 16th!), and dine at one of our many great restaurants too

Hey Downtown lovers! Just a quick note to let you all know that our small brick and mortar businesses, especially the retail sector, need your love and support right now.

The post-covid economy has put a major strain and stress on everyone and our small businesses are feeling it in a big way. From skyrocketing wholesale costs, increasing interest rates, and less expendable income, retail shops have been hit particularly hard.

If you can, please try to support our downtown businesses by treating yourself or someone else to something special today, this weekend, and every chance you can.

Let's work together to keep our small businesses downtown!

For those that don't know we do this, Hunter and I have been reviewing old games and we are coming up on 100 episodes. We are planning a best and worst episode for that one and then on to more games. We are looking to get 1000 Subscribers and we are already pretty close. Feel free to share with friends and family. Games coming up, Dark Shadows, Dynamite Shack, Mentor and many more. UWEC hosts GEEKcon 2023, an event that is all fun and games EAU CLAIRE — From Legos to esports, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s GEEKcon 2023 offered something for everyone to enjoy on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Hey Geeks!

Wanna see some of your RECORD BREAKING stats from this year's GEEKcon? We got 'em!

Attendance - we DOUBLED our attendance this year from last and had record numbers!
Food Donations - 2 TONS of food donated to our student pantry! That's an entire elephant of nonperishables!
Monetary donations - We donated $200 to our local humane society with our entrance fees! Thank you!
And finally, we had 75 vendors and 40 tables of LEGO this year! Absolutely bananas!

Hey Vendors!

Did you know, mayhaps, that we MORE THAN DOUBLED OUR ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR? 2023 was our biggest year ever, and a great big part of that goes to you! So first of all, we'd like to say thank you to our awesome vendors and helping to make this convention a massive success for us.

And we wanna hear what you thought about it! You all should have received a link from our students for a brief survey about your thoughts and feelings about our event. Hey Geeks!

Welcome to another iteration of our Know B4 You Go - answering all your burning questions about our up and coming event!

Parking tomorrow will be located at the Phillips and Hibbard lots at UWEC - shown here on our handy dandy map of lower campus. There will also be off-street parking along the side streets, or you can also park across the bridge on Water street!

ATM Location -- While the vast majority of our event is free to attend (with our recommended entrance donation), many of our vendors are smaller businesses that may not accept card payments. We do have an ATM onsite at the Davies, located at the north entrance, but we recommend bringing along some cash in case you find that oh-so perfect something for the geeks in your life (and yourself, of course - you deserve it!)

Ticket Pricing: $3 donation suggested or 2 nonperishable food items
UWEC Students: Free with ID!

Doors open for the public at 10, but vendors are welcome as early as 7:30 to allow ample time for setups

And our address! We'll be located at the WR Davies Student Center at 77 Roosevelt Ave right here in Eau Claire.

Quick reminder - - tomorrow is the deadline to SUBMIT your Film Fest project! That means all editing is complete and your movie is ready to rock and roll by 11:59 PM tomorrow night :]

Remember - your film must contain the phrase "Be very afraid" and either a cassette or VHS tape as a prop. The required length is minimum 1 minute with a max of 10.

Welcome to a very special Fun & Games Friday - Film Festival Edition!

This week, we'd like to invite participants to sign up for our annual film festival! All submissions will be shown at GEEKcon 2023 in a movie-theater style in the Woodland Theater starting @ 3PM on December 2nd.

Info/Requirements:
Film must be 1-10 minutes in length
Required Phrase: Be very afraid
Required Prop: VHS or Cassette Tape
